Modding Resource: Song Injector

UPDATED 8/21/2025: Fixed for compatibility with the latest patch.

Hi all, today I have a modding resource to share.  This is a script file that allows you to inject music tracks and music styles into the game, based on the late Scumbumbo's XML Injector.  You can use this to make mods that add new music tracks to the in-game or modded instruments.

You can look at the JS_SongInjectorTest to see how it works.  You can either add extra music tracks to pre-existing music styles, and those will show up on the instruments which use those music styles, or you can add new music styles to affordances which have a music_style component.

Note that this will not change the in game skill requirements for instruments.  Most of the play_song interactions require level 2 of the associated instrument skill, so even if your new music track has no tests, you won't be able to play the song until reaching level 2 of the instrument.

I hope this is useful!  Please feel free to reach out if you have any problems or need help using this resource.

PS - this is in the Curseforge upload queue now but will be posted there too shortly.

This is amazing. as DiciembreLychiie suggested: Would you be open to showcasing a very brief snippet on how to add a song to, say, lute, in a video clip? I would love to see my bards play these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2q7br9-T9g&list=RDI2q7br9-T9g&start_radio=1 ...in-game, at the Tavern. Cheers!

Could you please give an example about how to use it since I've never made any mod before and really want to make it my first mod, thank you for your great work!
