Added 2021-12-27 13:58:30 +0000 UTCOriginally Nes's "subconscious self" was supposed to dissolve into glowing particles and fly away in the wind, but I decided that that didn't make much sense. That version of himself originally spawned from his shadow (metaphor!) so it would make more sense for him to still stay part of him in the end, but merely change form. That's why in the final page, the particles fade next to his body, implying they joined together once again, but he no longer has a shadow. :3
It's a shame because I do like the visual potential that this had, but it just didn't make sense for what I was trying to go for in the story.
