Course Update: Community
Added 2025-07-01 21:37:11 +0000 UTCHi Everyone,
I have (another) exciting update to share about the course. Originally, when this course was created about 4 years ago (time flies!), the goal was to create a guided curriculum for learning sleight-of-hand from the ground up. There was intentionally very little "community" aspect aside from some discord channels where people could ask basic questions.
However, now that the course has grown and people have made considerable progress, I think it would be a more complete (and helpful) resource if there's a community aspect where you can post videos, get feedback from other members, discuss broader topics in magic, interact with me, etc. So, I've added some additional channels on discord that will take the place of the original cohort-specific channels (which you'll no longer have access to since they ultimately fragment the discussion, which is the opposite of the new direction we're taking).
New discord channels:
Feedback Loop: a forum to post videos, get feedback from other members (and from me), and engage in thoughtful discussions
Magic Questions: this is just a renaming of the old "livestream questions channel" -- I will still answer questions posted here during livestreams, but I want to open up the discussion to all magic-related topics
Ask Daniel: a channel for getting feed back from me (and only me), which is useful when you have a question about magic, but don't feel like opening things up for a larger discussion.
New Members: a place to ask clarifying questions about the course for people who have recently joined -- this is only visible to members that have more recently joined
I will be scanning all channels during livestreams to answer questions and provide my thoughts on any discussion
Oh, and if you haven't yet joined the discord -- definitely do that!
I'd encourage you all to dive into the new community aspect of the course and be active participants on discord. Happy practicing!
