Church of the Acarid – Content Spotlight, Updates & Remasters

Hey Folks,

With the new subscription system in full swing, we wanted to take a moment to highlight everything we’ve been working on behind the scenes. By scaling back the number of new STLs each month, we’ve been able to step out of perpetual crunch and focus on delivering a broader, more polished, and a better overall experience for everyone in the Bestiarum community.

Remasters & Updates

Our sculpting team has been hard at work updating classics from the original Gorgon Catacombs Collection. These improvements focus on modularity, usability, and print quality, making these sets better for painters, wargamers, and kitbashers alike.

If you already own these miniatures on MyMiniFactory, the updated files are available now at no extra cost. Legacy versions remain included where relevant.

Infested Pilgrims & Warriors – Now Modular

The faction’s core troops have been fully redesigned with modular loadouts, cross-compatible with other sets like the Penitent Crusade, and the Trench Invasion Pack.

This change delivers a tonne of versatility, Wargamers can build out huge units of these troops - with some mirroring and shuffling loadouts, you’ll be able to deploy 40 unique Pilgrims, and 20 Warriors before the duplicate dread sets in. Skirmishers can experiment with different loadouts, and play with the cross-compatibility aspect across our ranges - started with the Penitent Crusade, and set to expand as development continues.

Those of you who are using our models for Trench Crusade will be particularly excited here too, these updates make the Pilgrims & Warriors compatible with the Trench Bitz pack.

We can’t wait to see how you put these updated sets to use!

Other Key Updates

Acarid Altar for Resin

After launch, we heard your feedback: you wanted to print the full Acarid Altar on resin. While we still recommend FDM for the larger structures, we’ve delivered a new resin-ready version, fully cut and supported, plus a small-printer foundation compatible with FDM beds down to 180x180mm.

The MyMiniFactory Zip has been updated, simply redownload & replace.

Church of the Acarid Faction Pack

In recent months, we’ve been making some big moves in worldbuilding and faction development. Finding new homes for classic releases, and expanding upon the cornerstone factions - this trend continues with the Church of the Acarid.

Initially released in 2021, the Gorgon Catacombs arrived at a time when the world of Doaden was still in its most nascent stages of development - in fact, these parasites were originally conceived as a companion faction for the Crimson Grove. With both factions expanding so significantly, we decided it was right to split them from each other - offering their own unique turn on the tale of faith-fallen-afoul.

With the Faction Pack being delivered to all subscribers, it’s more accessible than ever - we hope it means that more of you will check out, and hopefully be inspired by, what we’ve been cooking. It’s something we’re extremely passionate about, and is a critical part of what we aspire for in developing Bestiarum.

While Doaden has always been a developing setting, those of us on the writing team are really excited about the direction things are going - the setting is feeling more alive and interconnected than ever, and we’re excited about what’s to come - we’re discussing the development a full Lore Primer for the setting, helping signpost the wider setting, and how these myriad factions interact.

We’d love to hear more feedback and thoughts on the Faction Books, whether it be questions on our worldbuilding endeavours, suggestions for improvements, or even offering your own short stories or ideas.

The Bestiarum Blog

Another new initiative we’re extremely proud of is the Bestiarum Blog - part of our ever-growing Official Website. We envision this blog as a hub for a wealth of Bestiarum, and broader grimdark, hobby content - painting, gaming, lore & beyond - designed to help you get more value and enjoyment out of your hobby with us.

Last month, we focused on Balazar’s Dominion with painting tutorials, lore deep-dives, and community-written gaming content.

Coming this September we’ve got:

Looking Ahead

We know the changes to monthly releases have raised questions for some of you, but everything we’re doing now is aimed at making the Bestiarum bigger, bolder, and better than ever. By shifting our focus, we aim to deliver a more balanced experience, where we as creators can shift from the content trade mill, and take the time to deliver more than just the miniature - something meaningful, supported by Lore, Artwork and Technical finesse.

We hope that over these years, we’ve been able to prove that Bestiarum knows how to make high quality, professional and exciting miniatures. Creating true horror miniatures is more than just teeth, spikes or tentacles - it’s achieved through meaning and true grounding in fundamental themes that frighten and excite us as humans - this is space where we want to develop and grow, and those creative energies required need time and space to cook.

Times of transition are always tough, and we know Bestiarum has never been a traditional subscription - to everyone who’s stuck with us, thank you from the bottom of our dark and shrivelled hearts. For those still on the fence, we’ll keep working hard to win you over.

We’ll be checking in again later this month to open up a discourse on the place Terrain holds in our future plans.

Cheers,
The Bestiarum Crew
