The Future of Terrain - Have your say!

We need your thoughts! There’s been a lot of discussion this month around the Acarid Altar Terrain piece. Some of you are excited about the return of terrain, while others would prefer we focus on different kinds of minis.
For the sceptics amongst you, here’s a peek at just some of the terrain we’ve already got cooking for the next few months -
We’ve loved working on these new terrain sets, but before we commit further, we want to hear what you think. There’s a poll at the end of this post, and your feedback will help shape future releases.
The monthly release is always a balancing act. With a fixed amount of production resources, we’re constantly deciding where to put our time and energy. The Acarid Altar is a good example, it took a huge amount of work to produce, and that time could have been spent sculpting other types of miniatures.
Here are the options we’re considering:
Option 1: No More Terrain, Give me Heroes!
Terrain isn’t your thing, and you’d rather see us replace it with more hero-style character sculpts instead.
Option 2: Keep going - I love Terrain!
You’re excited about terrain returning and want to see it continue in future collections, even if that means fewer character sculpts.
Option 3: Let the Bestiarum Decide!
You’re happy with either approach and trust us to choose what best fits each month’s collection - sometimes terrain, sometimes characters.

And don’t worry: as we mentioned in our last post, although we’ll continue designing large pieces for FDM, we’ll also be delivering resin variants of all terrain, so you won’t miss out no matter how you print.
We’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Bear in mind that whatever you decide, it may take a few months for us to pivot our development plans - some of these are already in development.

Agreeing with folks about smaller decorative elements (bigger is not better) but heavy on supporting the universe. A bit of the 'heroes' spin offs but what about the flora and fauna, pets...? Just got the idea while watching the alien earth 'eyed goat', which is very 'bestarium'. Minis with different stages in life is also interesting, like the heroes of flesh and blood (were they always looking like this ?). Could work for terrains too and inspire cool scenario about decaying places. Tldr, whatever keep you inspired and motivated.

2025-09-13 15:58:04 +0000 UTCFirst: I love your designs, in both minis and terrain. But sometimes it's just too big (regardless of printer). "Bigger is better" is kind of USA, not Europe (really excuse my prejudices). And we don't need another Loot, as their terrain is insanely big... As already mentioned: smaller pieces that highlight characters is the key! Like the stone altar and pillars in Dark Forest, if I remember correctly.
