Minor progress update.

Small quick post time. It's late, and honestly this week, fuck-all happened. I'm not sure why but it was wayy harder to do this stuff than I thought. My goals this week were pretty ambitious too.

They were:

Finish particles, emitters, and collisions code.

So close. I finished particle and emitter code, as far as I can tell. Fluids make splashies when they hit stuff, which sounds small but is actually pretty important visually to stop glitchiness.

There's some fun stuff with rendering I figured out, but it's pretty technical and mainly came down to me getting out of my own way when it comes it using the simplest solution for complex problems. Collisions are next, and while it was pretty annoying to work with in the past, I think it'll be okay? At worst, there'll be some silly clipping issues with fluids in early releases of this version, cause I don't want to waste too much time on it.

Finish all fluid code.

Fuck. Nope, didn't manage that at all. Instead, I learned that I didn't fully understand the needs of my fluid code, and wrote out the entire system in detail for how it works. I think when I'm able to show it off in-game, I'll break it down in a post. For now, if you're interested in the technical design of the fluid mechanics, check out the latest stream, where I went through the concept piece by piece. Later in the stream, we start talking about code, and how to break it into the Entity Component System and stuff.

Stream VODS are here. ('Videos' tab at the top.)

These notes came from it, though they'll be hard to decipher without the context of the stream.

Be able to show fluid stuff off visually.

Fat nope on this one. It's not in the game yet. Although, I'm thinking next week this'll be doable. Designing the mechanics -- that is, figuring out what the hell to do -- was wayyy more intimidating than thinking about how. The code itself breaks down into a fairly small set of actual functions.

Sometimes, the simplest crap is the hardest to code, and sometimes it's the opposite.

Goals for next week... same as this week, but for real this time :(

So yeah, small post this time cause it's past my bedtime.

Stay tuned, y'all. This week sucked for productivity, which I'm not happy about, but we're a step closer to finishing anyway. Thank you guys for following, and see you in the next one! <3

Do the best you can, and don't stress your self out too much all progress no matter how small is good progress :)

<p style="color: #008600;">Despite the fact that in your opinion the progress was insignificant this week, nevertheless, it is clear that you are moving forward well! Good luck!</p>
