Next month, James (my boss) will be selling the R35 GT-R. Before it goes, I had the chance to take it on one last autumn road trip. Growing up, I never imagined I’d get to drive a supercar, let alone one in Japan. But thanks to this job, I’ve been able to live out a childhood dream.
Before I started working at NRT full-time, I helped James film his first ad for the rental shop. Afterwards, I asked if I could take the R35 out to see the Sakuras during April 2025. He handed me the keys, just like that I was exploring Japan for a week straight in the GTR.
This time, before the car is sold, I asked again. Could I take it to see the autumn leaves? Once more, James said yes.
Both trips were unforgettable. I didn’t film much for both trips, choosing instead to fully soak in the experience. I’d drive, reach a spot, take a few pictures, stare at the car for five minutes (as one does), and then keep driving. Over the two trips, I covered almost 5000km, experiencing the raw power and luxury of the GT-R in some of Japan’s most beautiful seasons.
I want to thank James for trusting me with the keys to such an incredible machine, thank the GT-R for rizzing up all the uncles at gas stations, and, most importantly, thank it for not killing me when I may have tested out launch control.
And at the end, James let me keep the 35 number plate as a souvenir, really couldn't ask for something better.
I'll definitely print out these photos when I go back to Hong Kong.
This GTR is more than just a car, it's a core memory for me.
