Extended Writing Update

I'm zoomin I'm movin we're making progress people!!

I'm very happy with what I got done this week, if you couldn't tell 😂 For starters, I'm trying out a new system for tracking my progress and managing my time better where I focus on hitting a small manageable amount of words-per-day. I tend to churn out giant pieces and then rest a few days, realize I'm behind schedule and then repeat to catch up - but I get so tired doing that. So far the new method is going well, and I'm on schedule in terms of word count. It was hard to do at first because it meant not taking much of a break after last month's demo release, but gosh, it's been so worth it.

But anyway, the thing I'm really excited about is figuring out some plot problems. I had them on the "deal with later" pile and we're at a point where it's later, lol. I'm hammering out some of the finer details of the magic and how it works. I went from 0% to 80% of the way there, and I feel good about wrapping the rest up as I go. I might revise chapter one of the demo (specifically the moment where MC's on patrol) based on this week's work, but I have to take another look at it before I decide. That chapter and the one after it do need some additions anyway, though - there's currently no chance to tell people 'hey this thing happened on patrol' and I'd like to give the player that option.

I also got a lot of plotting done for the next two chapters. There's going to be an investigation portion of things coming up, and despite knowing how big an undertaking it is, I want to give three totally different routes for it. Unlike book one, the team will all be together on it this time, but they'll be looking into totally different things in different areas. I know I completely burnt myself out doing this last time but I'm hoping I can keep the branches shorter and save myself from that fate this time around. We'll see, lol. Book one's chapter 9 routes were each about 35k words long if I recall correctly, so it's not like I could make these any longer, at least 😭😂

Here's this week's preview ~

I watch as [wren_heSheThey] cut[s_w] away the man's sleeve and I see a nasty gash, and a collarbone that looks broken even from a distance.

My hand twitches.
