This show is at it’s best when it touches the emotional chords. This episode is certainly an example of that. But to appreciate it at it’s fullest you have to watch it again. Once the mystery solving aspect of watching is done, you get to appreciate the underlying message. How Buffy is still unable to forgive herself for what happened with Angel, even after being invaded/inhabited by James spirit. While James manages to find forgiveness through his possession of Angelus immortal body, Buffy can’t because Angel is not there to grant it to her. Beautiful and complex episode penned by Marti Noxon, one of the best writer on the Whedon team.
