I don't know if I would compare Mythology of different ethnicities to Marvel or DC comics. The Mythologies were more of a religion before Christianity. Gods that people prayed to, verses characters made up for stories like Spiderman, or Batman. It may be confusing if you don't know, because there are some Gods that are also part of Marvel, like Thor, or Loki (Norse Gods). But the key is they are considered actual Gods.
