Pinocchio (1940) - A Great Cautionary Tale - (EXCLUSIVE UNEDITED REACTION 🔥)

I think you should try the Disney series Once Upon A Time. Its a fantasy adventure tv show from a while ago based on a bunch of Disney properties, including Marvel. There are some references in the show from movies you haven't seen yet, like Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians and Bambi. So I think after you've reacted to the rest of the Disney classics, maybe try the show? I feel like you'd be into it!

I have never seen this movie until now and wow. That was a lot. xD Genuinely scary at times!

the pleasure island part terrified me as a kid 😂 still kind of unsettling. but the rest of the movie is so good !!

Yeah Pinocchio is a pretty dark story. I'd say after the wooden boy/long nose for lying, this movie's second famous claim to fame was scarring generations of children with the Donkey transformation sequence. It is human trafficking, just with a more fantastical horror to the process. Even for Disney, it's pretty f'd up. A cautionary tale about going to school and against the indulgences of drinking, smoking, and destructive behaviors. If another adaptation was to just, oh, I don't know, replace the cigars and beer with kid-friendly items, then it wouldn't be effective as a fable. (coughcoughnewD+remake cough) I'm interested in the new Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan's Labyrinth) stop-motion Pinocchio coming soon than I am the remake, tbh. I feel like he'll be able to bring a heavy emotional spin to it, like the Mateo Garrone version did in 2019.
