I really liked this film, when it first came out I remember rewatching it several times. It surprised me because I got really scared of the animated film and have never enjoyed it on rewatch attempts, so I think the plot cohesion made this rendition more suitable for my brain's preferences. That and I was 15 when it came out so I feel it was the perfect age to really relate to what they did with Alice's self actualization arc.

Such a great live action! For your next pool, I suggest Chris Weitz's The Golden Compass (2007).

And here it is - the first movie in Disney's now decade-long trend of remaking their classic films in love action. At least this movie has fun with the premise and changes things around. It's a bit too dramatic and high fantasy in my opinion - Alice is just an acid trip of a story and should remain as such. Still, this first outing is not entirely soulless like future remakes would be. A solid 6-7/10
