I really liked this film, when it first came out I remember rewatching it several times. It surprised me because I got really scared of the animated film and have never enjoyed it on rewatch attempts, so I think the plot cohesion made this rendition more suitable for my brain's preferences. That and I was 15 when it came out so I feel it was the perfect age to really relate to what they did with Alice's self actualization arc.

At least this movie has fun with the premise and changes things around. It's a bit too dramatic and high fantasy in my opinion - Alice is just an acid trip of a story and should remain as such. Still, this first outing is not entirely soulless like future remakes would be. A solid 6-7/10
