Great reaction JV, you always know how to strike a chord with us, it was awesome.
I started my DnD fun about 2 years ago. As with you, I played Skyrim as a kid and loved the identity that game had, the pure wonder and mysticism hidden in a crazy; action packed, lore filled storyline, where you are THE saviour. Insanely cool as you know. DND has been the only thing that's given that second dose of wonder and adventure like Skyrim did.
*disclaimer this is my first time watching this movie, as with many of your
reactions*
This movie was so faithful to the lore and world of dungeons and dragons where it actually blew my mind the details. Funfact, the dragon race is actually called Dragonborn like skyrim and I just love how you mentioned the reminiscing on Skyrim, it was so powerful for its time, but even to this day with mods it isn't enough. I think the cast was amazing and I loved seeing the characters form and develop, kind of tried to guess the "classes" each character had, which i will assume are:
-Chris Pine was a Bard with his lute the whole time but never used anything from it.
-Michelle Rodriguez was a barbarian or plain fighter, having her rage ability.
-Simon ofc was a Sorcerer, different from a Wizard and Warlock, but is very powerful.
-Then Doric the Druid which has those insane transformation abilities, very cool.
-Xenk was the Paladian which was so cool to watch, they have Smite abilities with their swords and that's what he used to ignite it in his fight.
It's just full of stuff you hear of in the game, but brought to live action so faithfully and with heart. It was a beautiful story and damn funny, I was am impressed.
Balders Gate 3.. this game was so, so great. Coop was flawless. The exact representation both this movie and that game have done to this tabletop imagination game is awesome. The fact that in this movie you experience stuff from the game is pretty freakin dope. You should give that a run in the future if you ever decide to dive into this universe.
One last thing I wanna share is the main way I currently play the real DnD experience with my friends. The website dndbeyond . com is a full interface / wikipedia that lets you create your own character sheets and in real time update and tick / change spells and add items while in-time with your adventure. While also not forgetting the tabletop aspect, where we use https://foundryvtt.com/ which is a virtual tabletop simulator, with large array of mapping tools and importing options for a fully customizable and game-able experience in live time reflecting everything your story needs and the dungeon master requires. My character sheet is a wizard and i'll share it here if you or anybody wants to see some of what the details are like, my spells etc etc. https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/107877058
Thanks JV for the content, keeping some of us strong my man.

I really loved it. It had everything. I wish it did better at the box-office. We need more stories and movies like this. Thanks for requesting it

The scene where Zenk walked straightforward and over the rock, and Chris Pine's narration, was entirely unscripted, and it was SO funny.
This movie really feels like a group of friends playing a D&D adventure - nothing goes right the first time, it's full of comedy and heart, and there's tons of fun amongst the whole party. In the behind the scenes, everyone is having so much fun making this movie. I have immense respect for them choosing to use mostly practical effects when they easily could have gone all-cgi. It really brings a more homebrew feel to the film, and I love it.
As far as sequels, there's not word, but I'm not holding out hope. It made its budget back I believe but not enough for a stockholder's profit, plus Hasbro laid off a lot of people recently. If there's a sequel, I'd love for it to be a new adventure with the same cast playing entirely different characters.
Overall I'm so thrilled you loved this movie. This was a great reaction. <3
