It was loosely based on the book series’ The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon but differs dramatically from the novels but in a good way I think; this is a Sci-Fi Action Adventure story: it’s Vikings versus Alien. I think you would greatly enjoy it JV! It’s got Jim Caviezel, Sophia Myles, John Hurt, Ron Perlman, and Jack Huston. Here’s the film synopsis: “A man from another world, crash lands on earth during the age of the Vikings. By forming a fragile alliance with the Viking warriors, the man combines his high-tech weaponry with their iron age tools to combat the Moorwen, a vicious alien predator that has followed him to Earth. Based on the novel series by Diana Gabaldon”
