Past characters who aren’t gonna come up by name but have been mentioned, for your reference: Astyanax - The infant Odysseus dropped off the wall of Troy at Zeus’s will. Only son of Hector of Troy (crown prince of Troy). His name will never come up in the musical and you don’t have to remember it. Diomedes - king of Argos, close friend and comrade of Odysseus, favored by Athena. Agamemnon - king of Mycenae, brother of Menelaus (who was the husband of Helen, the whole reason for the Trojan War in the first place). He and Odysseus were not on particularly good terms. Menelaus - A king of Mycenaean Sparta. Husband of Helen of Sparta / Helen of Troy who left with Paris of Troy leading to the Trojan war when everyone rallied to get her back (due to an oath Odysseus had convinced everyone to make when renowned beauty Helen was being courted, in exchange for Odysseus getting help courting Helen’s very clever cousin Penelope). Teucer - half brother of Ajax the Great. Prince of Salamis. Legendary archer who’d stand behind Ajax the Great’s shield and fire arrows at the enemy. Little Ajax - Ajax the Lesser or Ajax the Less, to differentiate between Ajax the Great (Teucer’s half brother). Leader of the Locrian contingent in the war. Great with a spear. Also a womanizer and kind of a horrible person. Who commits multiple kinds of blasphemy and atrocities and gets divine punishment as a result. This doesn’t come up in EPIC, it’s just vaguely interesting. Nestor - An argonaut (traveled with Jason and the Argonauts) who was downright ancient by the time of the war but still made a strong showing on the field as a leader. Badass, wise advisor, pretty principled. Neo - Neoptolemus, son of Achilles (who was killed in the war, hence “Neo, avenge your father, kill the brothers of Hector”). Really brutal guy in a lot of depictions.

2025-05-29 20:49:03 +0000 UTCCharacter list so far! Odysseus - captain, king of Ithaca. You can think of him as “Ody” if it’s easier. Polites - pancake’d childhood best friend of Odysseus, glasses guy (because his voice actor has glasses, animatic depictions are often modeled after the singers). A mnemonic is “polite-s” because Polites is nice/polite. Eurylochus - second in command, Odysseus’s brother in law (married to Ody’s sister Ctimene actually! This doesn’t come up in the musical though, just a fun bit of trivia). The one who looks like you, as you said. You can call him “Eury” (“your-ee”) and a mnemonic is “you really cuss” because he’s more blunt and aggressive. Athena - Goddess of wisdom, (strategic) war, weaving, pottery. The mentor of Odysseus, his patron goddess. A virgin goddess. Often symbolized by the owl, serpent, olive tree, gorgon (Medusa) shield, and sometimes rooster or crow. Penelope - Odysseus’ wife who he’s trying to get back to. Queen of Ithaca, princess of Sparta. Cousin to Helen of Sparta (Helen of Troy). Telemachus - Odysseus’ son who he’s trying to get back to. Prince of Ithaca. He was an infant when Odysseus left for the Trojan War, 10 years before the start of the musical. You can call him Tele-anything, the whole fandom does. Telemarketing, Telepathy, Telecommunications, etc ;> Zeus - king of the gods, addressed as father of the gods even though he’s not actually the father of all of them (but he is Athena’s father!). God of thunder, the sky, lightning, law, order. Symbolized by eagle, thunderbolt, bull, oak.
