Strongest in DxD - Chapter 68

However, they had no choice, with the loss of their Father, the arduous task of protecting their brothers and sisters, all the Mortals on Earth, and the souls that resided in Heaven rested with her and her brothers.

Was it so wrong for her to embrace her former enemy to protect what she loved? To embrace her hated Father's enemy to protect the masses who prayed for him daily. Although she loved saving everyone, it was impossible. Each day, more and more people fell victim to the machinations of the demons, but for each one who fell, a thousand more prayed to their father. It was her sworn duty to protect those who couldn't protect themselves and she did the best she could with what she had.

She had to make sacrifices in order to protect those she could.

As the thought passed through her mind, she couldn't help but shudder in disgust. When had she become so Machiavellian weighing the value of one person's soul against another's? Returning her gaze upward, she sighed sadly, wishing once again that her father still lived. She remembered the time when, as a child, she had sat beside her father and asked questions, questions to which he always knew the answers. The question did not matter, neither its complexity nor its uniqueness; her father always knew the answer.

Her father would know what to do.

All attention turned to Ren, who was staring seriously.

"The Three Factions no longer have the right to exist" said Ren calmly, the human looked at Serafall who instinctively recoiled at the intensity of the gaze: "You may call me a monster, asking what right do I have to kill millions. However, , those who understand know that they have no right to let them live"

At Ren's words everyone was quiet at the young human's absolute conviction in his words.

"So this is your goal, the Destruction of all supernatural beings?" asked Azazel already knowing the answer.

"Exactly. What I wish is one day that humans no longer need to fear the creatures that live in darkness, that they can be truly free without having to worry about their races manipulating them," Ren said firmly.

"But why do you have so much hate?" Gabriel asked sadly.

She could feel the emotions of other beings, and she only felt hatred in Ren, a hatred that was much deeper than it looked and was even frightening.

"Because you took everything I had, my friends, my family," Ren said calmly.

"What you mean?" asked Vasco without understanding.

"When I was five years old my family was murdered by supernatural beings," Ren said to everyone's surprise.

"No" gasped Dulio scared while everyone was in the same situation.

"When I got home that day I found my father dead, my mother and younger sister who had been killed after being abused and several Fallen Angels, Demons and exorcists fighting in my house," Ren said to everyone's horror.

"So that's why you want revenge?" asked Azazel.

"Not only that, when it all happened I might not have thought of revenge, after all they could have acted on their own" Ren said calmly, "But when I found out you were behind it"

"US?" asked Serafall in surprise.

Ren looked showing slight surprise

"Don't tell me you forgot about the boy who appeared several years ago, who possessed a Longinus and high magical power and you sent your subordinates to recruit him?" Ren asked calmly.

The eyes of the Faction leaders widened to enormous proportions as they couldn't believe what they were hearing.

"What does he mean Gabriel-sama?" asked Vasco not understanding, he had never heard about it.

And that was a strange thing, he had the second highest position in the Church after all.

Gabriel, who was trembling, began to speak: "Several years ago a boy had been identified, he was a human who had the aura of a Longinus and an extremely high magical power, the Church, at the request of my brothers, dispatched several exorcists to try to recruit the boy, but the Demons and Fallen Angels had the same idea and went into battle, that day the boy's family had been killed and he disappeared"

"No," said Dulio with pure dread on his face.

Of all, Dulio had been the one most affected, he had become an exorcist to protect the children who needed help, and now to see that his companions, that the people he believed had done it.

"Everyone had thought he ended up dying on the run, but it looks like he survived and is here today" said Azazel seriously as he looked at Ren who was smiling.

Ren just smiled.

"Don't look at me like that, I'm what you made me to be, so the monster you created has returned to kill you," Ren said smiling coldly.

"So it's for revenge, but if you do it millions will die, innocent people who have nothing to do with it," said Serafall trying to convince Ren to stop.

"Like my family?" asked Ren sarcastically making Serafall shut up.

"Many will die, but after this is all over they will never have to worry again, never again fear the beings that hide among them, humanity and everyone will be free" said Ren as his eyes sparkled with pure power.

"And that will happen, even if I have to kill every Supernatural being in this world," Ren said fiercely.

"Are you really going to do this, Ren?" asked Siegfried, drawing everyone's attention.

Mainly with the familiarity the exorcist used to summon the wielder of the Holy Lance.

"I thought of everyone here, you and Jeanne would understand," Ren said with a sigh.

"Do you know each other?" asked Vasco in surprise as Ren waved.

"Yeah, I met them when the two of them found out about God's death," Ren said making everyone's eyes widen.

Gabriel, Vasco and Dulio's eyes immediately went to the two exorcists who flinched.

"Like?" asked Gabriel unknowingly.

The death of God was a secret in the Three Factions, and she never expected the two exorcists to find out about it.

"We found out a few years ago and we were about to be expelled from the Church…" said Jeanne shakily.

"But he showed up" said Siegfried, drawing everyone's attention: "He told us that we shouldn't blame ourselves for something like that and manipulated the minds of the priests so they wouldn't cast us out"

Everyone turned their surprised looks to Ren.

"Yes, I did this using an ability of mine called [Kotoamatsukami] that allows me to manipulate a person's mind indirectly through false memories and experiences," Ren said, not caring to everyone's surprise.

"But if you were trying to make a war, why did you save us?" Jeanne asked not understanding.

"Do you really think I saved you out of pity? Compassion?" Ren asked, visibly surprised, surprise that was reflected in everyone: "Remember what I said when you said you were going to return the favor?"

Siegfried and Jeanne's eyes widened.

"That we were already doing it," said Siegfried perplexed.

"Exactly, I also used my [Kotoamatsukami] on you guys," Ren said to everyone's surprise: "During all these years I've had access to information that only High Class Angels and Exorcists could access."

Everyone's eyes widened at what they were hearing.

"Did you use us?" shouted the descendant of the hero who slew the Dragon King Fafnir.

Comments

Even now I don’t see any sincerity from the three factions at all. Even if it is too late for the mc to forgive them, at least they could try saying sorry or anything. They are just a hypocrite that the mc should not kill innocents but they can as long as the killing benefits them. So the point is that you are right if you belong to a strong supernatural faction but you are wrong if you are a lonewolf like the mc.
