What exactly is took to get Minecraft porn.

So I thought it would be fun to share with you all, what exactly was my process in getting Luka and Zanshi to where they are today, funny enough it was at least 3 years in the making, you might think that ridiculous, because it is. So sit tight and I'll explain how I go from here...

... to here...

So let's me take you back to the year 2015, I was busy experiment with trying create my own block building game in unreal, I've slowly add to it from time to time, whether it's a project I'll complete is for future me to decided but I needed a model to test in my creation, what better than an actual Minecraft Steve model. So I downloaded one and shoved it in my creation, and things were great.

As time went on, I began to notice a significant amount of Minecraft porn beginning to surface and was every bit as awful as that very idea promises to be. I began to tell myself... I can do better. and so I set out to do just that and with a day or two of modeling and texturing I created this...

As you can see I said to my self the most important thing is that it have boobs... I would be lying if I said I was proud of it. But here is where I laid the ground work for one of my core design principles in this journey. Low Res didn't have to mean Low Poly. As you can see I gave the model rounded edges. It's my opinion that you can't make the hard edge look work with only hard edges.

So I toiled along with my project thinking to myself... "this is fuckin' terrible" and moved away from my abomination, but I like the rounded looked so I keep using it as I build my block build game.

So time passed and progress on my game continued for a while, but something compelled my to try once again. So I said why not, let's try again. And so with this attempted I came my next design principle, Low Poly is just as good as Low Geometric complexity.

I decided and rightly so that merely adding boobs was laughably inadequate to create something even mildly attractive (Unless of course you have a thing for refrigerator shaped people.) I was way more pleased with this attempted than the last so much so that for the longest time refinements to this design focused primary on proportions and texture work.

Soon I had created a male design that fit my design goals and, as the internet mandates, I made them fuck, so it is written.

Now personally I say this is already miles better than most of the garbage I encountered online and I wouldn't be surprised if someone legitimately wants me to follow up on this. But, at the very least, I won't; to me it just looks too silly to me to fall in any other category other than "why boner".

As I said I stuck with this main design for a long time and when I got around to adding combat to my block game, I ran with this design and made things like gibs and skeletons to fit these models.

So I lost interested in trying to make them do the sideways shimmy and continued with my game. but the designs just were to simple for me. I added things like jiggle physics to the boobs and hair and lamented on UE4 solution being terrible as demonstrated in the video below and instead implemented my own.

As such I began to experiment more heavily with my designs. doing many different things, basically I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what stuck and I decided on a couple things.

1. Lose the flat shading of Minecraft, lighting was key something looking appealing.

2. Low Res textures with lighting and shadows are to distracting in a lit environment and are overly difficult to make good character expressions with.

3. WHY COPY MINECRAFT SO CLOSELY, IT'S NOT LIKE A I WORK FOR MOJANG OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!

All that fiddling and tinker lead to this monstrosity here.

Truly I was mad with power, but this model allowed for a crucial thing, It let me make the characters emote.

Now you might think I'm crazy for ever thinking this looked good... I didn't but it functioned. Personally I say in a vacuum the face really doesn't look that bad... just not with that body.

I stuck with this for a good while I even made a male version.

So I really sorta gave up trying to making it look better for a while. I felt I hit a dead end. I also felt I hit brick wall with my game as well, I was basically just copying Minecraft, what exactly was the point. So for a while I kinda gave up on both. I didn't really know what to do with either for a long time.

Then I got the brilliant Idea... Why does that face need to be modeled to which let to my last major and important design principle. Why ONLY PIXEL ART?!!!

Thus it lead me to here.

It's at this point that I was really quite confident in my choices thus far, I got everything I wanted, a design that could emote and was far more charismatic than anything before it.

Simply put it was the first time in the whole endeavor that I felt as if my creation have any sort of personality and character, I knew what I was doing now was more right than anything before it.

But I was far from finished with out even realizing, When I started this Patreon, I did so with the intent to monthly content, whether or not such things were possible or not. I forged ahead anyways and I thought that my models were ready to be made public... IT WAS A MISTAKE!

In hindsight there were many things about the models that really bugged, the butts just didn't works, the boobs were to long, armature controls for posing were woefully inadequate. Simply put these models were never meant to be posed like that as what I was using them for merely had the arms and legs move back and forth for walking and that's it.

This image right here is a great example of many of the problems the models had and obvious mistakes I let slip by in a despite attempt for quick content. The grass clipping through her leg along with the jarring end to the texture on it. the back of the hair just clips right through the ground and I remember I said myself who's gonna notice. (BAD ME, VERY BAD ME!) The boobs are just sticking up in the air with no weight or bounce, the segmented legs... they just don't work.

So after releasing that garbage fire, I mopped and said to myself it's not that bad, why do people hate it so much. BUT IT WAS! IT REALLY WAS! It's not that I didn't put effort into it, I didn't put enough, All I wanted was something ready before January.

So when I finally mustered the strength to try again. I got to work evaluating all thing I felt I did wrong and over these past few months slowly between all the other junk I've been working on, refined what I had, I also made an important change, the BUTT!

I did away with the segmented legs and fused them and sculpted it in to a rather nice posterior if I say so myself. Along with a countless improvements to textures, shaders, geometry, lighting and actually using some post-process effects, I finally got to where I'm at now, and I don't know about you but... I think I did a pretty good job... eventually.
