The updated and massively extended Chapter Eight should be released early next week.
We are just performing some final testing over the weekend.
This part of the story takes place on Thursday afternoon and it's a critical point for everybody.
It's all been building up to what happens to Principal Valentine and, in turn what happens to you.
Clearly you have a significant role in determining the outcome of her dealings with Miss Goodhead and Governor Ramsey.
But during the first couple of hours you are left alone downstairs in the Media Department to await your meeting later on in the afternoon.
This gives you plenty of time to help out and/or generally misbehave on what could be you last day employed at the Goodhead Academy.
What's new?
I mentioned in a previous post that when splitting the old 'Part Four' into the new Chapters Seven & Eight, it left the latter half rather diminished.
Although size isn't everything, this was exacerbated by the overlapping and parallel narratives that could really give different but very short and limited playthroughs.
I've addressed this by changing the overall timing structure and pushing back the endgame events.
This gives much more time and opportunity to play the new scenes.
I've refined the narrative too, so there are some subtle modifications which are intended to flow into future events in future chapters.
There are four new bonus scenes and plenty of scene extensions too.
One of these is mostly based on an existing scene, the other three add in a couple of thousand new images.
I'm sure there will be a few pleasant surprises too...
The original image count before the remake was about 900.
When released the final version of Chapter Eight has 3390 images, nearly 4 times larger, making it the biggest installment so far.
As usual with my games, there are many options and choices, and they are sometimes intentionally challenging. But it's a game right?
My only piece of advice for Chapter Eight is to once again try not to get yourself fired!

The new bonus scene with Bridgette in the gym.
It gives an opportunity to rescue an otherwise poor relationship, or ruin an otherwise good one.
