Due to your many positive reactions to the Thumbnail photo of our new YouTube video, we wanted to share the photos with you.
Alain is portraying a Signifer (standard bearer). These Signifers were often experienced soldiers who were elected or applied for this position. What is known is that for ceremonial occasions a lion or bearskin was worn by Signifers. The signifers wore the phaleri (military medals) earned by themselves or their unit. They were also depicted with a small round shield called a Parma.
