Last days of summer and new plans for a documentary!

Summer has ended and autumn has begun. Surprisingly, we still enjoyed a wonderful and sunny weekend during the first week of October. We traveled to the Orientalis Museum Park in Nijmegen again, to to re-record the last images of the march with the Furca due to the previous poor weather conditions (See our last post about our marching weekend).

But we've have also started a new documentary about a completely different era in Roman history, namely the late third century A.D. The reign of Emperor Diocletian (284 to 305 A.D.). Diocletian was a notorious emperor due to his bloody persecutions of the Christians. But Diocletian was also known as a reformer of the Roman Empire and recognized for his organizational talents.

Because we did not know any re-enactors who are involved in this time period and therefore did not have any equipment or costumes we could use, we had to be very creative in filming scenes. By wearing headgear, cloaks and 4th century tunics in a different way, we still got the result we wanted and the images looked very believable. Take a look at our last photos for the results.

I hope you enjoyed this post - and don't forget that we have put up a new and exclusive video for you on our page. Check it out!

You're gonna love the documentary about Diocletian then, i'm sure, although it's gonna take a while before we publish that one (got a couple more in the works before that). Next month we got another 4th century topic that will have to quench your late Roman thirst until then :P

Tenacity. You guys got it. 👍 Looks good as always. I am interested to see vignettes of how the Romans changed their dress as time progressed, as well as the cultural influences and practical necessities which dictated such change.
