I do have a habit of nitpicking about certain details. I try to only reference places I know existed, or that the Greek populace of the time thought existed. I try to use realistic estimates for travel time between locations. I try to describe the karst landscape at least somewhat realistically.
One weird quirk I ran into was that the maps of that era were extremely inaccurate, so when trying to get information on locations that the mythos of Perseus and Bellerophon refer to, they all took some puzzling to translate to a real map.
But most useful was the setting pictures for the cities and acropolis. It's hard describing buildings with an architecture you're not familiar with.
