Status Update

Whoa, Medusa's almost done. I had said originally that it'd be about 15 chapters, and then I thought it'd be less, but now I'm back to thinking 15 chapters. The planned story remains the same, but certain scenes take a while. Chapter 13 in particular has proven to be one of the most challenging chapters I've ever had to write from a technical/prose standpoint.

You may notice I got rid of the 'expected release date' I was including for chapters in my workflow. I figured it'd be best to get rid of that, aim for 3 chapters a month, and just release chapters when they're done. Quality is more important than releasing chapters on a specific day.

After Medusa, I'm back to writing My Little Ventrue. And that'll work like this:

- 3 chapters a month, each a minimum of 16k words, Patrons charged.

- occasional bonus chapter exploring different characters or aspects of My Little Ventrue, should NOT interfere with main chapters' release schedule, and Patrons are NOT charged.

The bonus chapter idea is a little unique, so I'll explain.

People request seeing the setting, Dolareido, the different covenants, the different bloodclans, from different characters' perspectives. So every so often, I'll start a discussion for bonus chapter ideas. Depending on how the discussion goes, whenever I have the time, I'll start writing a bonus chapter about an angle/avenue of MLV that would otherwise be unexplored.

- Maybe a sexual chapter written from the perspective of a human in this setting spending the night with a vampire?

- Or maybe a day and night in the life of one of Antoinette's ghouls?

- A few nights exploring the sheriff's life.

- Introducing some new characters that would otherwise not get any POV time, would get some POV time in a bonus chapter instead.

- Exploring the other creatures of Dolareido that go bump in the night.

I'm looking forward to really sinking in a lot of time and writing into MLV and turning it into a much larger setting with more stories. And of course, a lot more Jack.

If this ever happens, I imagine I'll have to write it (and possibly other characters) Highlander style. Lot of flashbacks weaved into the present storyline.

I would love that. He is certainly a very interesting character, who clearly has a lot more depth than the tiny amount that he allows most others to see.

Lot of people seem intrigued by the sheriff! When I reach Goal #2, I wouldn't be surprised if people voted for me to write a full book's worth of chapters with him as the lead.

Thanks. I'm glad to have written Medusa, and I've learned a lot, but I'm anxious to get back to MLV where I feel I'm at writing a setting I'm better with.

Awesome! Can’t wait for MLV to come back. For the optimal stories, you can consider a back story or side story of one of an historical event or character that doesn’t impact the main story but still interesting to know. E.g. how the vampires are like in the 1800s. Or a dead character’s story like Tony, etc. Definitely interested in sheriff’s stories. I’m so intrigued by that character

Sounds awesome. While I love reading Medusa and will miss it when it's finished, I am also very eager to read more of MLV. You built such a great setting with so many interesting characters. The optional chapters sound like a great idea. The alternate POVs are a great way to see more of the world and side characters, so I look forward to those in addition to the standard chapters.
