Aaaah Fantasy Description Aaaah - Discussion

So Chapter 14 and 15 were a pretty huge departure for me from my usual writing style. Pages upon pages of describing areas and venues that are to be explored in only one or two scenes before moving on? Bleh. BLEH I SAY.
You can probably tell I'm much more comfortable writing play/theater-style scenes. Dialogue and character interaction is where I'm at my best and happiest. Spending 5000 words describing the city of the underworld, or 5000 setting up all the elements of the afterlife, is not. BLEH.
It's certainly been an exercise though, and I feel I've learned a lot about the power of extensive description. But I can't wait to get back to MLV where the writing is far more character oriented.
That isn't to say there won't be bits in MLV where I need to lay down a lot of description to set up new areas, but I'm not gonna lie, I won't miss having to pull up pages upon pages of references for Greek mythology and Greek landscapes, so I can write essays about them. :P
