Part 9 needs to cover a decent span of time, and keeping track of time flow has been a failing of mine in this series. So I'll be doing a little time tracking in Part 9 (and a much better job of it in my next series).
This chapter plants the seeds of the story arcs Part 9 will hit. Hopefully it does a better job of catching interest early, compared to Part 8, which kinda flopped around before it got to the climax.
