Leaving Patreon?
Added 2020-07-31 14:47:09 +0000 UTCI don't know how much you patrons keep track of things going on outside of this specific Patreon, but it's come to my attention that Patreon is having some problems, big ones. Patreon has been enforcing some very harsh censorship, banning creators with views and opinions they don't agree with.
More problematically, they've been banning creators or demanding they delete posts, with erotic character artwork they deem 'too young'. I've seen some of this artwork from Twitter feeds, and they are most definitely not too young. But for reference, if I were to commission artwork of Natasha, a petite woman who was sired at 20 years of age, Patreon would deem any erotic artwork of her unacceptable. She's too 'petite' to be considered 'legal' by Patreon's review board. God forbid an artist give her anime eyes.
To make things even worse, Patreon has just, within the past 24 hours, lost a lawsuit involving one of these creators they banned (lost may be a strong word. a specific aspect of one part of the lawsuit was lost? law is complicated). Now Patreon is out a decent chunk of money, and deservedly so, if you look into the details of what they did.
For the record, I have no idea who any of these creators are that Patreon has banned. I understand a lot of them qualify as 'hate speech' but I honestly don't know. What I do know is Patreon's history on how they deal with creators they don't like has been atrocious, and borders on illegal. Changing the EULA in the middle of an arbitration? Big no no.
One thing is clear, and that's Patreon really doesn't like NSFW creators like myself, or the artists I'd be commissioning once I reach Goal 1. I'm not sure what will happen to Patreon, but unless they change their tune, there's a good chance NSFW content will have to go, either because they force us out, or because Patreon itself goes under.
Not all hope is lost! I'll likely be moving over to SubscribeStar, as they are far more accepting of NSFW content. I'm not 100% sure yet if I'll be moving over, but it's looking likely, as Patreon keeps pushing out NSFW users more and more.

One thing you'll notice is SubscribeStar does not do 'by release' payments, instead only doing monthly. I've adjusted the tiers and goals to reflect that. Not a direct x3 multiplier on them though, because there are some months where I only get out 2 chapters.
- $1 per release becomes $2.50 per month
- $2 per release becomes $5.00 per month
- $3 per release becomes $7.50 per month
- $10 per release becomes $25.00 per month
- and I'm adding a Beast tier cause why not 🤷

Indeed. Paypal is against NSFW content in general, has a tenuous relationship with Patreon, and no relationship at all with SubscribeStar, due to SubscribeStar's 'hands off' approach. What I'll probably end up doing is running both sites at once, and when/if Patreon bans me, and when/if Patreon itself dies, my SubscribeStar will already be in full swing. This will let people who prefer Patreon continue to use it. But, you never know, in the next few months Patreon may change its tune about NSFW content, and I won't have to leave at all?

2020-08-02 13:34:04 +0000 UTCactually a good idea, with patreon being shady af, but my problem is the limited payment option atm.... patreon allows me to pay with paypal, which charges to my bank account, but it seems subscribestar only allows creditcards :(

2020-08-02 13:05:29 +0000 UTCYeap. For now everything will continue as normal, but there's a 99% chance I'll be moving to SubscribeStar, and I'll announce it when I start to 'deload' Patreon and use SubscribeStar exclusively instead.
