Howdy friends,
I hope everybody is keeping happy and healthy.
As you may have seen, I finally got the latest episode of Obscure and Forgotten Games finished and out to the world. It took a lot longer than usual due to the reasons specified in the previous update, but I'm happy to get over that hurdle and hopefully, this will mean a more frequent video output going forward, we'll hope the best anyway!
As for future plans, I may need to push forward with the decision to return obscure/japan only games to the 3-game format sooner than expected. The current plan was to continue with 4 games per episode until the conclusion of Vol.20 for each, but due to how much time my job and other IRL-based activities are demanding of me lately, I feel cutting back to 3 games per episode will mean I can get videos out to people quicker, and I think getting more videos out sooner, trumps having the additional game per episode.
So as of right now, I think Japan Only Vol.16 will be the last of the four-game format, with Vol.17 onwards returning to 3 games per video. All the fan rules etc. will still be in effect and the incredibly complicated plan I set up for the future of the series will still go into effect after Vol.20 for each, which if you need a recap is...
-Viewers' choice returning to one game per episode, the other two games will be selected at random from my curated list.
-Viewer submissions can only be submitted by Patreon backers (any paid tier is applicable), suggestions will no longer be taken from YouTube comments, and all previous viewer submissions will be scraped.
-PS2 games will now also be highlighted alongside PS1 on the channel. (PS2 Obscure/Japan Wheels Vol.1)
The goal of the above changes is to both make my life a little easier when it comes to micromanaging things, as tracking YouTube comments is not the most enjoyable experience in the world. And also help add something of value to the Patreon page (outside of my rambling updates and cat pictures of course). Plus the addition of PS2 games will be fun for everybody involved!
I'd always love to add some more stuff to the Patreon in future, but until I can see a path to moving to YouTube full-time, I just don't think I'll have the time to invest in anything but the core videos on the channel, but we'll see what the future holds, always got ideas swirling around in my head.
As for the current video pipeline, here are the next few videos I have in the planning stages
Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix
Japan Only PS1 Games Vol.16
A Look at Every Taito PS1 Game
Club PlayStation Mix.10 (Horse Game Music - trust me)
PS1 Fan Translations 2024
There's no order to the above and a completely different video not listed might appear out of thin air, but that's a rough idea of what I've got going on at the moment. I know people are hyped for the eventual "every Konami game video", but after the burnout, I experienced from the Capcom video I need to plan when/how I'm gonna make that happen, but I assure you. I will make it happen.
As for other news, I appear briefly in the recent Console Chronicles book from Lost In Cult, during a section on PS1 fan translations, it features interviews from both myself and Hilltop as well as many other great pieces on console gaming over the year, highly recommend checking it out! (I've included some pictures above)

I also appeared on an episode of the PAL Keys Podcast with Daryl Baxter, which was a really fun time. If you want to learn more about myself and my philosophy towards making videos. You can listen to it pretty much everywhere, but here's a Spotify link :)

Also, I've now using BlueSky since the conversations on there are waaaaaay chiller than Twitter. I'll still be using Twitter sparingly but I think I'll use Bluesky for more conversational and spur of the moment posts. You can find me under the usual name, the name I use everywhere eh... usually.

Anyway, that's it from me for the meantime, things are still pretty busy but I'm doing good, Orla is doing good and the cats are doing good. What more could I want? I might try to do a little stream on YouTube in the coming week or two just to touch base with people so keep an eye out for that!
Huge thank you as always for your continued support and I hope you enjoyed the latest video. Take care of yourselves and I'll chat to you again soon! (Also happy Halloween for those who celebrate, I'm forced to by birthright and because of the fact I have a big pumpkin head aka big Irish head syndrome)
Much love,
Sean
(Ps. Enjoy the latest batch of cat pictures. I bought a nice camera to take pictures of Luna but turns out she's scared of it and runs away anytime it appears. Classic cat behavior)
