EXO - OBESSION ALBUM REACTION

Hi brand new member to your channel and Patreon! When I saw in your intro to their live performance (White Nose, Thunder etc) that you reacted to the full Obsession album I knew how the rest of my night was going to go lmaooo! Oh my god what a delightful watch! Like you don’t understand… I’ve been a fan since 2013 and when this album dropped they reached a new level. The elevation. No one was the same!! I have so much to add to your conversation but I’ll try my best to keep it short! Basically, EXO is all about dynamics. They are artists who understand the craft of making good music i.e, their production and vocal technique and it is precisely that mastery which makes their harmonies/melodies so memorable and admirable. Also that’s what has always separated them from other groups in the genre. Not to talk down on other groups or anything but this is what makes EXO a group that will stand the test of time. The more songs in their discography you listen to you’ll start to get it more. EXO is only in competition with EXO. Also there’s a certain formula that the songs follow. You’ll have performance songs which might not hit until you watch their lives, title tracks with memorable hooks, groovy throw-back anthems to get the crowd excited, straight R&B, commercially successful songs that are less interesting, songs just for the vocalists to flex, rap-trap inspired songs to give the rapers and sub vocalists more shine or ballads that cannot be considered kpop because they are next level. Back in the day… (I’m a millennial lol) EXO were guinea pigs so they’ve tried Everything. 2012-2015 they were the ID of kpop. Not going to promise that all of it is good but now in 2025 even their tracks with the most questionable production are still interesting and dynamic. Also something to keep in mind, EXO made some songs solely for the performances and their live performances always add something better to the original material. i.e, Wolf and Power are not aging well but anytime they perform them live they elevate them with amazing transitions and new production. Now I have a new association to the song Power because it makes me emotional. This is what EXO does. Generally though in terms of their song making formula they’ll throw in ad-libs in the middle and change up the structure to keep their fans (and their haters) on their toes. Then they let their vocalists go crazy towards the end of the song. They do this to build suspense and that’s why it is so, so gratifying! LASTLY the fact that no one mentioned EX’ACT as the best album... I got my eye on ya’ll for that!! Timeless classic that I’ll play for the rest of my life. Cloud 9, White Nose, One and Only. EDM isn’t even my favorite but this album changed my life. Anyway, loved this! Looking forward to following your journey.
