2025-04-18 16:55:26 +0000 UTCIn Korea to foster limited use of disposable or one time use items (like plastic bags and such) the government mandates that stores not offer bags for items unless they are charged a disposal fee it's 100 to 300 krw which is about 8 to 28 cents, depending on size. Often times customers ask for bags after payment has been rendered, this is a way to get around the fee since most stores won't want to ring up 100 or 200 won. It happens most often in conv. stores. In brand stores like this they typically ask you at the start before they ring up any items at all, and add it immediately if you say yes. She neglected to ask and completed the transaction, so she said she would pay the bag. Since this was broadcast. I am 1000% sure they did not make her pay for it, but they can't seem to be not following the laws.
