February Photos #3: The Five Stages of Boom Boom, Stages 1-2

When caring for a Little one who still uses his diapers for #2, it's important to recognize the nonverbal cues that signal when a poopy diaper is occurring. These cues often appear in stages. Let's use Mav here as an example.

STAGE ONE (first photo): Mav's felt the rumbling in his tummy and knows what's about to happen. As many toddlers do, he's crawled to a corner where he can fill his diaper in privacy (or so he thinks). Note the look of surprise and urgency on his face. We are likely just a few seconds from go time.

STAGE TWO (second photo): The act has begun. Mav looks almost uncomfortable as the load begins to push it's way out, but it's nothing to worry about. Little guys like him often look somewhat out of sorts as they get re-accustomed to the feeling of having a dirty diaper. Remember, their memories are shorter than ours.

Stay tuned next week for the next three stages!
