He's got it all. The colorful shirt with the dino sleeves, the cartoon dino shoes and hat, the baby blue binky, the big stuffed puppy that he carries around literally everywhere. He may be big, but he doesn't look or act a day over three years old. It's strange, you think to yourself, but it's also kind of adorable. He's sweet. He's innocent. He doesn't have a care in the world. The adult part of his brain has been silenced. No stress, no responsibility. Not a bad way to live...
And then you see him do this. The squat. The look of strained concentration mixed with mild embarrassment. It's not difficult to tell what's going on. All too quickly, you're reminded that he's a toddler not just in the cute ways, but also the stinky ways. After a few seconds, he comes out of his squat and continues playing as if nothing happened The stench of his soiled diaper starts to permeate the air in the nursery. You plug your nose and hightail it out of the room to go get his Daddy. Thank god you're not the one that has to change him. How can something so lovable smell so bad??
