Out of town
Added 2022-04-27 23:40:15 +0000 UTCEvening everyone, hope you're all doing well. Took a break from sketching commissions today to make something of Jiji. I'm not sure what got me drawing her from behind but once I started I figure I should try it out. I personally hate not being able to draw faces and expressions so I've very rarely done something like this. Decided to try and make the most of it.
I wanted to make something really bright and pretty but uncomfortable at the same time. A cauldron of thoughts brewing in serenity. I tried really subtle things to explore that thought like the angle of the wall, her positioning, and later the brush strokes in the sky. At one point early on I drew a centipede crawling up the wall but felt it disturbed the loneliness I was going for. It was a cheap trick to force the discomfort onto the viewers instead of letting people sit on it.
In the end I'm not really happy with the results. I rushed through it without putting enough thought is all. I'm glad I did it because it reinforced some ideas I'm trying to commit to memory. It was nice to think about Jiji again and her little story and what it could be.

After a lot of sleep and seeing this again I'm not as unhappy about it as I was. It missed it's mark on my goal but it's nice none the less.
