One TV show + One Record #5

While dealing with the covid I re-watched Detectorists, as I always do when I feel like watching something cozy, funny and light. There's something about this show that feels like a warm blanket to me.It could be the gorgeously shot rural England sights, the folky soundtrack, the character driven subtle jokes or the low stakes plots... Plus any comedy that intertwines references to Saxon burials and the like is just very much my bag of tea. Really highly recommend this show.

This week's record is Pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.
Was recently watching an episode of my current favorite podcast - Tim Heidecker's Office Hours and they were super excited to have the "legendary" Pavement on.
I had very little clue about them. Their name sounded familiar but I was fairly certain I'd never heard a note. For someone born in the dawn of the 90's, my knowledge of that decade's music is really really spotty. A quick research let to the realization they are really influential and critically acclaimed and turns out their they really live up to the hype.
They remind me a little bit of a favorite band, Minutemen. The punky take on classic rock sounds, the dissonant melodies. Really great stuff.
And my favorite thing about getting into an impactful band is that suddenly you have a ton of things to explore: all the records, live shows, articles, docs, solo material and etc...
Excited to dive in further.

Have a great week everyone. And as always please chime in with what you've been into!
