Re Richardsâ Diabetes - Iâm a type 1 diabetic same as him. Youâre right regards his blood sugars - youâve got to time that as accurately as you can to achieve peak performance. Tbh what theyâve probably done is run his bloods a bit higher than usual and cut back his insulin as this will keep him on the safe side. Short term itâs better to be high than low. They should also be giving him shots of lucozade or similar between rounds to keep him sharp. Really really dangerous if his blood sugars start to run low, genuinely could get comatosed in there.
