Their combat encounters are recorded in the event that the mercenaries fail and are killed (eaten) that the company can at least make a few quid off their death vids and sensory streams. Of course, if they survive that works too!
PS: Some of the mercs have huge online followings and are webstars, hence the celebrity characters. Most mercs don't make it but they get big followings on their way out!
