MrJBrick - Classic Comic Ultron

Here’s a fig that’s been a long time coming! (well not really I’m just constantly behind on new releases)

MrJ Brick sneakily put out an Ultron back in January 2025 with quite possibly zero fanfare surrounding it, and it’s pretty alright! Nothing amazing, but solid none the less!

Ultron himself unfortunately suffers from being (in my opinion) perhaps a little too simple in his comic design. I mean freaky mouth robot head on just… a plain humanoid body? Well it’s not exactly a head turner. But hey! It was the 70s! And MrJ did a solid job turning this character into plastic!

However the one thing I’m gonna hold over it this entire review will be his silver shine… or lack there-of… Because well the silver just kinda feels a bit dull. Like all over. In a way, the silver almost has to be in order for us to get those nice shiny reflective patches all over the fig.

Idk… i think I just have mixed feelings about it!

MrJ took the same approach Lego themselves did with their DC CMF Cyborg a few years back. Using pearl grey plastic as the base, and punching it up with shiny inks. Although I’d say that in a very rare phrase for me to utter, I think Lego did the better job here (only slightly though). Lego's inclusion of the light blue really elevates their concept of chromed metal without it actually being chrome

Interestingly, while comparing it to other figs, I pulled out L1N6’s Ultron, and (for some reason could only find the head of) Lego’s version. Seeing them all together, I think MrJ’s fig is still my fave of the bunch

The custom parts from MrJ's Ultron are nice! But man oh man, that headpiece would NOT budge! So I suppose we’ll never know what the inside of the element looks like (insert sad face here)

I must say, MrJ really nailed the 3D shaping of Ultron’s freaky head! I also really appreciate how the upper sections of the antenna are molded to only stick off his head a little to prevent any major damage if dropped. All while the bottom is fully just shaped into the headpiece! Smart stuff!

I also get a bit of a chuckle with the shoulder armor! MrJ managed to get in his shoulder spikes in there despite Lego minifigures not having shoulders 😆 Honestly if they were any bigger, they would hinder the movement of the head or risk snapping off at that small size so it was another smart decision overall!

At the end of the day, it’s still quite a good fig! It also had a good price for it at $75 upon initial preorder. But something closer to $50 would have felt a bit more fair since it just feels incomplete without a shinier coat of silver. It didn’t even come with accessories 🤷🏻‍♂️

Again, not bad, but not mind blowing! Still happy to have him in the collection!
