Los contactos con nuestra civilización han sido siempre malos para estos nativos: cada objeto nuevo introducido es otro clavo en su ataúd, ya que crea según ellos nuevas necesidades y un comportamiento egoísta. Para ellos, su lema es feliz no es el que mas tiene sino el que menos necesita. Tienen un estilo de vida sencillo y austero.
