One of the most famous nudes was that of the Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr, who appeared totally naked for 20 minutes in the 1933 film Ecstasy. The film was a great commercial success in those countries where it could be seen without censorship and catapulted actress Hedy Lamarr to fame, who began a career in Hollywood. Curiously, in addition to being an actress, Hedy Lamarr was co-inventor of the first version of the spread spectrum that would give rise to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. And Lamarr, who was the daughter of a Central European Jewish couple – her father was a banker and her mother a pianist – stood out from a young age for her intelligence and was considered gifted by her teachers. She began studying engineering at the age of 16, but three years later, in 1933, she left the career attracted by her artistic vein, and began working in the Berlin theater as a student of director Max Reinhardt.

Y es que Lamarr, que era hija de un matrimonio judío centroeuropeo –su padre era banquero y su madre pianista–, destacó desde pequeña por su inteligencia y fue considerada por sus profesores como superdotada. Empezó a estudiar ingeniería a los 16 años, pero tres años más tarde, en 1933, dejó la carrera atraída por su vena artística, y empezó en el teatro berlinés como alumna del director Max Reinhardt.
