Mystic Ville - 7th March 2022 - Weekly DevLog

Heyeyeyey, everyone,  how you doin'? We're hitting the first week of March today!

This week, I finished that one background and spent the other days thinking and I decided to make a little adjustment to the story, it's a minor tweak but might heavily impact the future of the story, so I did it anyway, I've laid out the outlines but haven't finished writing the dialogues again.

I also did a bit of posing but not much/significant thus there's no increase in it.

(I gotta admit, posing is the most tedious part of developing a VN. I could just make a whole paragraph on why I hate to do posing, xD )

And yes, we're 100% sure that it will have point-and-click elements, so far we have 3 backgrounds, there will be 1 more. And setting these point-and-click stuffs increase the load in Code. I've finished the code on all 3 backgrounds, there will be 1 more background later. The 5 left are the Char views for 2 sprites, along with their real layered image system.

Each background will have stuff that you can click and interact with, along with simple location navigation (door connecting to other locations).

Story (Script/Dialogues)

A minor change that will most likely impact how the story goes in the future. This tiny minor change also changed Misty's role in the story. It's funny how a simple scene could turn the wheel of the ship easily.

Art (Backgrounds/CG/Sprite)

Finished a background, there will be 1 more left.

This is the best I could do right now, I'm not an artist, to begin with, but I'll always try my best and keep on learning to be better! Please bear with me, guys!

Also, I found a backup artist that already started working on one of the scenes. I will post updates when they update! (Hopefull the artist can try to match Red's Artstyle, to keep it consistent.)

Code

Increased from 5 to 9, thus setting back the overall progress.

I finished coding the point-and-click system of 3 backgrounds. There will be 1 more background later.

Posing

Been doing it little by little, it's tedious and this needs to be done daily. I can't imagine doing it in one go, especially a long session, I could say, it's even more boring than grinding a slow battle RPG game.

Thank you for reading this week's report!
