President using BTS and UN speech? / Lizzy Drunk Driving, other cases

Wow! From what you all describe, I’m surprised people want to be President of South Korea! If a prison term is the likely outcome, one would think people would rather stick with being a Mayor.

Those dd services seem so convenient and really nice. But to see the worker's side is really sad. In america I think the emphasis is having someone in your friend group act as the dd or get an uber/taxi. This isn't the same thing but it kind of reminds me of my university. They had a service where you could request a ride from the library or anywhere on campus to your dorm or off campus apartment if you felt unsafe at night.

I wonder if there's a reason why bts don't have lyrics discussing social issues as much anymore. Is it bc they're being used by political figures and as ambassadors for korea/korean culture? If they started writing about these issues again I wonder if they'd get blacklisted as far as govt support goes. Maybe I'm over thinking this but it is interesting to think about. I don't think bts are political puppets but the govt definitely likes to take advantage of whatever soft power that they have internationally.

All celebs drunk drive? This just tells me drunk driving is common amongst koreans in general. You do have a drinking problem which you call "culture" but oh well

If the president is so unpopular and there is this public backlash, why do you think BTS has agreed to be part of his agenda? What’s in it for them?

Obviously it’s all speculation, but I think it’s good to ask questions about the way they’re being very publicly being linked to the president again and again. It feels a bit excessive. Also, I don’t think we’ll be getting any of their old style F capitalism tracks from them anymore 😭😂😂

In the 1980's in the US, an org called Mothers' Against Drunk Driving (MADD) made a huge impact of fighting drunk driving...tougher laws, enforcement, jail time, school education, getting bars/restaurants to stop serving intoxicated people, holding them accountable if they continue to do so. You go into establishments today that serve alcohol and you'll usually see a sign about designated drivers/don't drink & drive. The org had a huge impact in stigmatizing d & d. Is there an org like that in Korea? What's the public's opinion of drinking & driving?

I saw the kstea where soobeanie mentioned that a lot of male idols have bad reputations in the industry,, so if my idols are squeaky clean.. what does that mean? is clean necessarily good? once heard someone say that the groups who dont have any problems aren't close..is it true?

I am happy to see that BTS's hardwork and positive infuence on people through their music is being recognised; I bet it is a big honor to receive such passport and title, but I am concerned that their influence might trasspass the music scene to the point they're "used" for political reasons and that it might backlash them negatively somehow... The line is very thin, so I really hope they stay true to themselves and their values despite it all.

Really sad about the whole Lizzy situation. What she is excusing is totally wrong! I agree with Danny about how she deserves those harsh comments! (Not death threats) also people really don’t change. In the words of my mother ” a tigers stripes don’t change easily” with people like her! But I do hope she doesn’t ever drunk drive again! For her sake and the safety of other people’s lives!!!
