Regarding Patreon's new payment method
Added 2025-04-13 08:10:25 +0000 UTCI've seen it show up whenever I upload a chapter, but I never gave it much thought until now. Basically, it allows readers to buy certain chapters rather than pay for a subscription. Should I start implementing it? If yes, should I make it for all chapters or only snippets? I thought maybe some people would be interested in only reading certain snippets and not others, but don't want to or can't afford the Ultra Tier.
As for the price, it will be about 75 cents per 500 words. Or 1.5 dollars per 1000 words. So a 10k-word chapter will be 15 dollars. Though chapters rarely get that long anyway.
If so, I'll add a new benefit to Ultra Tiers to make it fairer for them. They'll likely start getting chapters one or two days early compared to everyone.
And don't worry, I'm working hard on the new Optimistic chapter.

That's fair. A flat price does sound more appealing. As for the Super tier, it gives technically 20+ chapters now considering it includes more than the legacy fics. I should clarify it better in the membership notes lol

2025-04-13 10:31:31 +0000 UTCmy two cents on the matter are that it shouldn't be based on word count. It's $15 for 15 chapters via the Super option. It would be a stretch to charge about $8 per chapter, therefore I would recommend a flat rate model of say $4 a chapter. Again this is my two cents, you do you.
