Good for you and your kids . Quickly learned I was being warehoused in public school and I passed test no matter what so I just took test ignored everything and just read books all day . Stephen King , Ray Bradbury , Elmore Leonard , Isaac Asimov , Kurt Vonnegut and yes two Joe Bob Goes to the Drive in collection of his syndicated column books ! Imagine how much better society could be if we let kids take jobs and earn money at 13 in place of public school with minimum of 35 hours a week at job . First job at 15 washing dishes at cracker barrel taught me more in 6 months than last 6 years in public school .

the public school system in every state is a fucking joke. the teachers dont care , the parents dont give a care , the schools dont give a shit neither. those schools make it the parents responsibility to teach their own children. so why go to school in the first place then? charter schools are Way better , all around. i know because i pulled both my now adult children out of public and placed them in charters without ever looking back. best thing i could have ever done for them. they are perfectly rounded adults that are more than capable of thinking outside the box! love that. unfortunately, people have no clue what that (charter) even means :P *more snore*

Their PARENTS can also choose to teach their kids with explicit material but it appears most parents are fine not having their kids subjected to pornographic literature in the red states and blue alike . Meanwhile FBI is targeting parents at school boards . Reading the material ASSIGNED to their kids out loud . But please explain specifically the book that deserves to be taught that these states are banning and at whats youngest age those stories were being taught to . Salems Lot is great literature but taught to average ten year old that is obscene . If parents choose to do so that is their business . Was this outrage their when Obama pushed common core ? Nope programmers said then govt controlling what teachers and school teach in every class room nationwide was ok . These schools teaching lessons with gay sex have higher reading comprehension, math and arithmetic scores than ones that are teaching Uncle Toms Cabin or Tom Sawyer ? My bet is no . Notice how people only get mad at what Corprate media tells them to be angry over . Your being played ! Parents and their kids can find this material on their own if it’s that important.

They're both smart enough to know that an educated populace is a threat to their power. That's why they continue to defund education in their states. All while at the same time, banning books, controlling teachers lessons and trying to restrict the rights of students to be themselves. Oh, and don't forget that time they formed a tag team to use tax money to bus asylum seekers (including children) 2000 miles to the other side of the country to " own the libs". I’m talking about the United states being ranked lower than most every industrialized nation for decades !!! Graduating kids who can kit read their diplomas or backs their bank accounts . Test scores have consistently plummeted year after year . Glad your kid seems to be doing well , sounds as if they could graduate early especially if she can balance her checking account and read a diploma if the system allowed that .

When schools can read write and do arithmetic at grade level I can agree not to mess with them . As curriculum changed over the decades the grades , knowledge and skills has rapidly deteriorated despite likely being the best funded public education system in history .

Don't be naive, John Bloom. When the radical leftist teachers unions are pushing transactivism on grade schoolers in public schools, it is the governor's responsibility, as they are tax payer funded, to ensure this grooming is halted and prevented. If this is concerning Critical Race Theory, that's not the same as teaching about the country's history of slavery. And if CRT isn't being taught in grade schools, as is the Democrat talking point, than the governor's attempts to prevent kids from being exposed to this divisive, racist garbage should be a non-issue.

Love It... Speak the truth JBB!! As a high school teacher in Florida I feel caught in the crosshairs... Last week Desantis wanted to completely get rid of College Board and the AP curriculum from the state (I teach AP Physics 1 and 2). Did JBB see the Republican from Florida's Hillsborough County who proposed a law to get rid of the Democratic party from Florida 2 days ago? You can't make this stuff up. He's voting to abolish any party that ever sided with slavery.
