I once bought a brand new vehicle in Massachusetts to drive to Michigan where I was going to register and plate it. But Massachusetts wouldn't allow the car to be sold unless I allowed them to punch some big ugly holes in the front of my brand new car to slap an ugly license plate on it. They caused thousands worth of damage because of that.

Probably since most of them are crooks anyway they think it might help when the finally make their break for parts unknown!
