Just A Dumb Little Puppy

And why should my collared, owned sweetheart have to think about anything more complex than what you’ll do next to make me pet you? Or what you could do to earn a treat? After all, even if our dogs could speak, even if they could handle our finances, or cook, or do any number of wonderful human things… if all we wanted them to do was enjoy canine life, would that matter? If their only responsibility was to go for walks, and enjoy nice food, and affection, and play, and speak and sit when told to…?

I know you don't want to be a puppy because you looove being a smart, responsible person so much. You want to be my puppy because you want to be taken care of… because you want to be somebody's pet. You want to be able to be silly, and have fun, and relax, and just dumb down a bit for me, a little at a time, deeper and deeper just like you sink. To think less, and feel more. To worry less, and smile more. 

It's natural for a good pup to smile and be happy and unthinking - because that's all handlers like me expect puppies like you to do."
