It wasn't my Fault - The chess club - Part 19

OTHER PART | ALL STORY LIST

Tom hugged her sister and told her she still loved her. Sam hugged and said the same to Josie, then gestured to the rest of the club. This is all the family we have or need from now on, sis.

Josie buried her face in Sam's shoulder and cried through muffled tears and sobs. Josie said I don't deserve a sister as good as you. I've been so mean to you, and you just forgive me.

Sam said that's what a loving sister does. Jasmine finally stopped crying and asked, Do we stay here now?

Ebony said, for the time being, yes, and I hope after everything is sorted out, you all want to keep staying here, as this house needs to be used properly.

The Chief just finished a call and then said to the room, If that's what you all want, I'll see if it can be arranged. I think between Ebony's lawyers and the legal section, they should be able to sort it out. Then to John, the Chief said Susan had some good news for you. John looked questioningly around the room till Susan spoke up and said yes, shelter.

You informed Britney about my cyber section. I looked into it and easily found out that the three-member board was embezzling money from it, and they weren't being subtle about it.

So we sent the fraud squad in to investigate, and they've arrested everyone except the cook and the housekeeper who are still working there looking after the students.

The education trust is paying the bills until it goes to court, then legal will work with child safety and some other groups to make sure it doesn't happen again as they are going to appoint a 5-member board for 12 months.

The best part is you can't apply for it; they find you and make you an offer of the position. Also, legal thinks they can recover 80 percent of the money stolen from the shelter.

John thanked Susan.

Ben said at least something good is happening now. Let's talk. Alex said yes, we need to talk, but I don't want this to sound rude or ungrateful, but I'd like to speak to Ben and the other club members alone if that's ok. The club members voiced their agreement. Susan said, of course, you can, and Brett agreed to say you have to talk to people who are dealing with the same issues. The Chief understood immediately and said we'll let you talk, and Ebony can show me the house so I can say I inspected it. To Britney, he said you're team can talk to Legal and the CSI's

"O" and Britney talk to your old gang sister in the bank fraud squad. Britney blushed deeply and said she would, sir.

So Britney called her gang sister.

Hay, sister, have you got any information for me? Sky I shore do Brit.

Jenny Bea has been getting 7 million pounds for the past 7 years and for the last two years, she has been working for FEMSISTERHOOD.p t y. l t d and with a bank balance of 6 million pounds and a stock portfolio worth over 68 million pounds she really didn't need to work at all that's about it for Jenny Bea's financials as for the account in Alex's name that you found the paperwork for Britney.

the account was opened by an Arab prince to pay compensation for Alex's father died saving his life and the life of his son it was set up so that Alex and his mother wouldn't want for anything for the rest of their lives but a year after it was set up Jenny Bea stopped taking money out and the account has been sitting there getting paid a million pounds a month ever since.

The accounts of the women you nicked last night, apart from some other minor payments, have the same payments being made to their accounts as well, but not as big, and the two that got court boarding The Eurostar I don't know where they got the cash they had on them from, as all their accounts have been frozen since you called me, but they have Bean getting the same amounts paid to them as Jenny Bea, but this kid Alex is lucky as she can access this account as it has nothing to do with this case and it’s worth 76 million pounds. I'll send you all the information you'll need to give to Alex so she can access the account.

That's one of the worst things about this case; all the mothers didn't need the money; they all had healthy bank accounts before they started getting payments from THE SISTERHOOD; it just made them richer. Britney said shIt and thanked her mate.

Sky said there was no trouble for my sister. Britney smiled and thought, Yes, blood sisters for life, we're a long way from the bunch of girls who would beat up the pedo who would try to pick up the runaways that would show up at the central station in town. Sky said yes.

Now we use our brains, not our fists. Britney didn’t realize she was thinking out loud and said yes, and it’s almost as much fun. Have you heard from the others? Sky answered yes, they are doing well. Jade is a barrister in London; she’s prosecuting a principal for inappropriate behavior. From what I’ve heard, the principal was over the top with their punishments.

Britney said it's too bad she’s not here. I’d let her take a shot at the principal of the school where my girls are. Sky said she's really going to be here for the anniversary of Paige's death, and knowing her, she’d jump at anything like that.

Belle’s coming She’s booked her leave, so she will be here for the month. She’s a sergeant at the yard now.

Britney laughed. Don’t let her hear you using her first name; you know how she hates it. Sky laughed as well and said I’d never call her anything other than Sledge to her face. Britney said it was a good idea. Sky, she loves you, but she'd still kick your ass if you called her Belle.

Sky Yar, I know she would, and did I tell you Georgia will be coming this year as she's a fully qualified surgeon now?

Britney said good. I hope she’s forgiven herself for not being able to save Paige that day. Sky said she has. From what she’s told me, she had to go to counseling for part of her degree, and she admitted it helped her come to terms with that day.

Sky asked, Have you come to terms with that day? I know you blame yourself as our leader and always will be our leader. We took a blood oath on it, the day we became blood sisters.

Britney said yes, I have, as I’ve played that day over a thousand different ways in my head, and the only way I could have stopped Paige that day would have been to keep her at our squat all day, and that would have never happened.

Paige loved hunting pedos almost as much as she loved kicking their asses; she just thought she could handle anything by herself; overconfidence was her only fault, Sky said. She was always overconfident; her luck just ran out when she found that one guy that we kept on missing. Britney said yes; at least he paid for what he did. Sky said, and he’s still paying, but enough about that.

Britney said Sky How would you like to get out of your office and do some interviews unofficially? You’d be watching someone’s back as he’s already spoken to the complaint slash witnesses, and he will get the information out of them, but I need an officer to be there, and I’d like it to be someone that’s reliable and can look after themselves and John, but most importantly, they must look girly and not like a butch copper. Sky said I’m in Britney.

Britney said good. I’ll talk to the Chief Superintendent.

Ok, Sky said let me know when you need me, and I’ll be there. Britney said, Great, I’ll let you know. Look after yourself.

Sky said to look after yourself, sis, and I’ll call you if anything happens.

The club members were all in a bad place, as they knew what their mothers had done or tried to do to them, but to have the reason for it to be money—no other reason than just money—is confronting, to say the least.

Alex put words to their feelings: What are our endgame  girls?" Ya, we want them to pay for what they have done to us, but how?

I'm willing to let Britney deal with the organization, but our mothers have to be made to pay for their betrayal of both their legal and parental responsibilities to care for and nurture their children, not betray and abuse them for money.

Ben said I feel we should take what they gained from doing this to us, not just their money but everything. Everyone agreed with that.

John said I don’t believe we should stop with our mothers. I think we should take the organization down and take it over to help look after the other boys, men, and women who are dealing with psychological issues caused by this organization.

The money and assets they have would go a long way in helping them and others, and with the evidence they have, they could take it away from them. If they take it away from them, they will break it up and give everyone who puts their hand up a pittance unless someone puts forward another idea.

I think we should replace the board members with people who will keep it running and use the profits to help the people who have been the victims of the sisterhood and maybe help others in the community. The rest of the club liked what John had proposed, and the more they thought about it, the more they liked it.

Jennifer said, "Okay, I can see by everyone’s face they like John’s idea. I say we propose that idea to the others and tell them we want to take everything away from our mothers and leave them nothing, seeing as they will be in jail. Everyone agreed with Jennifer.

Jay put his hand up to speak.

Jennifer nodded for him to speak, Jay then stood up and said I think you all deserve some payback as I feel my mother got off easy by dying so quickly in that crash but feel we should be better than them I think we should set up a home for them so when they get out of jail they’ll have somewhere to go and not just for our mothers but all the mothers and the other people who ran the sisterhood, it won’t be anything fancy just a room with a bed a communal shower down the hall and mess hall downstairs and they’ll get medical treatment if they need it, but the best thing is they'll have to ask their kids or be recommended by three petticoated kids that have been persecuted by the sisterhood to nominate them to live there.

I think that would give a bit of closure for a lot of the children to have a little bit of power over the person who did bad things to them, it looks good as it looks like we're not just after the money.

We all liked Jay's idea as well.

I knew I liked the idea that if my mother recovers, she knows it’s the person that she treated who’s making sure she has food plus a place to sleep each and every day, as I subtly remind her I could be so different than her after what she’s done to me, that I'm a better person than she is, if I ever talk to her that is.

It should give her something to think about. I then spoke to the club, and I said we all should vote on this, so who likes Ben’s, Jay’s, and John’s ideas?

Steph said I’m not sure I’m allowed to or not, but I second or agree with what Alex just said. Jeremey said Steph was right. I vote yes to all three proposals. Who else voted yes? Everyone said yes. Anyone who voted no?

Jeremey said, Let’s get everybody back in and give them our proposals and see what they say. We all said yes, and then Sandra asked the others if they’d like to come back in.

When they all sat down, Ben outlined our proposals: how we felt the money and assets of our mothers should be given to us and our siblings, that we were willing to pay for a place for them to live when they get out of jail, but felt it would be better to have a place that not just our mothers could stay at but the other mothers who’ve done the same thing to their children, and that we think the sisterhood's assets shouldn’t be broken up but kept together but replaced by the board since the old board members would be in jail, and that the new board would use the profits and assets to either rehabilitate or assist the victims of the past sisterhood.

The Chief Superintendent really liked their ideas and asked Ebony what she thought about them. Ebony loved the idea that we’ll just need to be careful of who we put on the board.

The chief said as long as it’s none of these and placed a list of names and titles in front of her.

The Bored Members of the Sisterhood.

01. President Elizabeth Stratton,

02. Vice President Misty Short,

03. Secretary Denise Link,

04. Sargent at arms Jo Oakwood,

05. CEO Amali Stratton,

06. Treasurer Rebecca Draco,

07. Legal Deborah Draco,

08. Research Kathy Beachwood,

09. Education Jasmine Walker,

  1. New projects Trish Nimoy,
  2. Recruitment, Lisa Sussex,
  3. Bored member Elizabeth Longrod,
  4. Bored member Jesse Conner,

Ebony read the names and then said, I know some of the names; they are wealthy ladies and unmarried ones, and now I know why. The Chief said yes, it’s against their religion to marry. He then said to Susan, Ask your girlfriend Chantelle from Legal to report to Britney as soon as possible, as Britney’s team needs legal advice and can’t wait to go through channels.'

Susan blushed and said, How long have you known  Uncle?

The Chief said since the end of your first month together, I’m glad you’re happy and that you have kept it professional at work. Susan sent her boss a message telling them I've approved Britney's request and that Britney sent me a request as well. We must keep it looking normal until we show our hands and add to Britney’s request for a banking specialist and tell Sky and her boss the same thing as Chantelle’s in the correct way, of course, Susan.

Susan just shook her head as she typed away at her laptop.

Britney was just about to ask the Chief if he wanted her to write the requests when the Chief stopped her and pointed to his laptop in front of him. Britney saw an email from her requesting additional personnel in legal, fraud, and banking, and then two confirmation emails showed up in the Chief’s email, one to legal and one to fraud, and the banking squad, then another two emails, one to Sky and the other to Chantelle telling them to call Britney and report to wherever she tells them to.

Britney's phone dinged, and it was Sky saying she’d be there within the hour. Then Susan said Chantelle would meet Sky and be here within the hour.

Britney was speechless.

The chief then asked Ebony I understand your uncle is the best business and criminal attorney in the UK. Ebony said yes, he is. The chief asked, Do you think he’d stop by if you asked him to? Ebony said I'd have to ask to know, and she picked up her phone and called her uncle, who said he’d be over as soon as he could, but it would more than likely be noon today.

The Chief Superintendent was very happy with that and then asked Britney what evidence she had on the girl's mother. Britney answered the Chief: We have evidence that we can charge all the mothers with child abuse based on their own journal entries; they've documented how they gave harmful drugs to minors that were obtained illegally, so to break it down,.

One obtained drugs illegally as the drugs found at the mother's house weren't over the counter, they couldn't find a prescription on record in their names, and by the barcode number, they were imported illegally.

There are two multiple counts of child abuse: giving harmful drugs to minors, emotionally and physically abusing a child under the age of 16, physically abusing a child under the age of consent, and obtaining money by harming a child, which implicates the sisterhood as they pay them.

Three try to coerce others into committing the same felonies with their children, which implicates the sisterhood as they hire them to coerce other mothers.

And four of the mothers are being charged with breaking in, failing to stop when told, and leaving the scene of a crime.

All mothers are being held 2 here and 2 in London. Jenny Bea is under guard at the hospital and will be informed of the pending charges when she's able to comprehend them; the others have been informed of the possible charges.

The two women in London will be transported back here by this afternoon at the earliest, but they will more than likely be here tomorrow.

The results of the investigation into the sisterhood political party and the implications for the feminist sisterhood and the information given to us by a concerned citizen that he discovered while interviewing candidates for college.

I feel we have enough evidence to raid the Feminist Sisterhood Offices, take into custody the staff and board members, and issue warrants for anyone who isn't there. 24 hours later, we issue warrants for everyone who has accepted money for harming children (i.e., forcing them to dress and act like females, causing emotional harm, and giving them harmful drugs) and seize their assets with the aim of handing said assets over to the abused children slash victims.

The Chief Superintendent said well done, Sargent, and well done to your team as well. Now we have to wait until Ebony's uncle gets here plus the additional staff, and it's morning tea time, and you girls need to do something to take your mind off everything for a bit.

Now I want you to set up your chessboards, as I know you all always have them with you in the big dining room, even you two, the Chief said as he pointed at Jasmine and Josie. But we don't know how to play, said Jasmine. The Chief said, Bull, I know both of you are into mathematics and are at the top of your class, so don't try and play the pretty girl game with me, young lady; intelligence is just as attractive as looks. Now get in there and play.

We set up 7 chessboards, and Steph grabbed a bag and 2 rooks of each color from each board and placed them in the bag. We each picked a rook, found the board it belonged to, and started to play. It was good to think about something else, as the officers talked on their phones or with each other, and sometimes Ebony, Pam, and Steph.

The Chief watched us play until his phone dinged, and then he left as he made a call. As he came back in, I heard the Chief say I'll see you in 20 minutes. He then told Britney your prisoners have been delivered, and apparently they have confessed to trying to break into their storage unit.

They claim they didn't see the police tape and just thought their lock was broken. Britney laughed and said, We haven't heard that before, Chief. He laughed as well and agreed with her.

Ten minutes later, Chantelle and Sky showed up, and Britney introduced them to us as we were talking to them. When we heard the doorbell, Ebony left to answer it, and the Chief went with her, which I thought was odd.

They came back shortly with two female officers and a lady in a suit. The Chief called out Britney and Sky, who turned to see what the Chief wanted, and they tearfully embraced the lady in the suit and one of the uniformed officers.
