One boy's Journey - Chapter 3

OTHER CHAPTER | ALL STORY LIST

It was a short drive to the airport. I've lived next to the airport my whole life and haven't laid eyes on it in a couple years. I loved the planes flying overhead. At one time, I wanted to be a pilot and fly away from here. Now, thanks to my plight, I'm going on a flight to Las Vegas.

Cathy drove us to the rental car return. We took the shuttle back to the terminal, walked through the terminal, and came up to two corridors. Cathy stops and turns; this is where we part ways for now. It was great seeing you again.

Ree, We'll talk soon. I meant what I said about you coming out for a visit soon. I hugged Cathy tightly, kissed her cheek, and thanked her for everything. It was my pleasure, Ree. Travel safe, ladies. You too, Cathy, we said.

I studied her movements as she walked down the corridor. Aunt V saw me studying her movements. You're really studying her, aren't you? Aunt V asked. Yes, Aunt V, how can I not?

Cathy is grace, beauty, and power. I want to be like her, Aunt V. You will be, sweetheart. Just like her and more. Will you help me, Aunt V? Of course, Ree I'll help you; you made an excellent choice as a role model.

We checked in for our flight almost two hours early. We went and got frozen yogurt while we waited. We freshened up in the ladies room. It was my first time in the ladies room.

I was very nervous. When I finished in the stall, I studied what the other women did. I opened my purse, freshened my makeup, and brushed my hair. I redid my lipstick last.

I paced up and down the terminal, trying to walk with a nice sway in my hips like Cathy did. The gate flight attendant called our flight. They boarded disabled and first-class passengers first. We sat in first-class seats; they were huge, leather, and very comfortable. Aunt V gave me the window seat. We stowed our purses and buckled up.

The jet began to taxi, and I was getting excited about takeoff. The jet lined up on the runway. I hear the engines revving up. All of a sudden, my back gets pushed into the seat. We start speeding down the runway, and all at once, the nose of the jet pops up, and before I know it, we're in the air.

I see the ground fall away beneath us. The jet circles around, and I watch as the only home I have ever known fades in the distance. I tear up as I sit back in my seat. Aunt V holds my hand. She says It's a new adventure for you, Rianna; enjoy it. As we climbed above the clouds, I started fading away.

Aunt V woke me about 20 minutes before landing. I touched up my makeup in the bathroom. We walk to baggage claim. Aunt V whispered one foot directly in front of the other, trying to sway your hips, dear.

I made a conscious effort to do as she said. I could feel different muscles working for the first time. I could feel my butt jiggle a bit. It was a lot of work to concentrate on walking. I could feel my breasts jiggle a bit.

I saw a couple boys staring at me as I walked past them. They were my age—not brutish-looking but cute. Wow, did I just think that? I glanced back at Aunt V as a way to see if they were watching me. They were. They were kind of cute, said Aunt V. I blushed.

We hailed a cab, and 30 minutes later we pulled into this country club-style subdivision. The cab pulled into a huge house. Light brown brick, Spanish style, it had a 4-car garage. A circular driveway leads to the front door.

This is beautiful, Aunt V! Do you like it? I love it! I bought it about a month after your last visit. We walked inside; the foyer ceiling had to be at least 18' to 20' high. There was a staircase with a small bridge overlooking the kitchen with a hearth living room.

On the other side of the bridge was a formal dining room. The fireplace was open on the other side, with a den. It had five bedrooms and a maid's suite. All the bedrooms had their own bathrooms, and there was a half bath off the kitchen. Outside the kitchen, hearth, and den was a large pool with a hot tub.

Aunt V, your home is so beautiful. Thank you, Ree. Now let me show you your room. We walked upstairs; she opened the door and switched on the light. The room was painted light pink with white trim. My room overlooked the pool.

There's a queen-sized canopy bed with pink sheets adorned with pink, purple, white, and blue pillows. In the middle was my favorite teddy bear from my house. I saw Teddy and hugged him. The furniture was all white with gold edge trim. I had a separate makeup table and work desk.

Aunt V showed me the bathroom. It was very beautiful, with a separate shower and jacuzzi tub. Next to the toilet was the bidet. Bathroom mirror with makeup lights all around it. In the closet was an enema kit with a medical stand. I asked her about it, but Aunt V said she would show me how to use it later.

She showed me the walk-in closet, and I was blown away. The closet itself was bigger than my whole room at home. It had a couple of dresses and a cute pink blazer dress. The dresses were filled with pants and bras.

There was a one-piece Speedo swimsuit in one of the drawers. I had babydoll nighties in light blue, pink, yellow, and green with matching mules. Each nightie had matching pants and robes. They were very pretty.

Aunt V: This is way too much, I said. Nonsense, honey; you're my niece and goddaughter. My head got a bit dizzy taking it all in. Aunt V saw it and sat me on the bed. You alright, Ree? Yes, Aunt V., I guess I'm still adjusting to everything. Take your time, Ree; you have plenty of time to adjust and adapt. It took time for me to adjust. You adjust to what? I asked.

Honey, we need to talk. Before you were born, I used to be a boy. I was depressed, confused, and lost. Your mom has always been my best friend, even when I was a boy. My family wasn't very understanding. If it had not been for your mom, I may have committed suicide.

When I left for college, I went to a therapist and was diagnosed with gender dysphoria. I was given hormones and therapy and slowly transitioned to the woman before you. I still have my male bits. After 6 months on HRT and in transition, I was feeling better and happier. I was able to start enjoying school and life in general.

Your mom is my rock. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you two. Your mother is a strong, caring, and open-minded woman. So that's why you can't have children? Yes, sweetie. But I don't need children; I've always had you. You're my goddaughter and niece.

I will always be here for you. Do you date Auntie? A little, but only girls like myself. Men are okay, but most have hangups with women like me. Most women do not like women like me.

When I tell you I know what you are going through, I actually do. The only difference is that you weren't given a choice. But I always saw a beautiful girl within you.

We put away my clothes and bags. We set up my makeup table. Aunt V saw that I was getting tired. Ree, take a short nap, and I will wake you when it's time for dinner.

Thanks, Aunt V. Here, sleep in this. She hands me the blue baby doll nightie. These are very comfortable. She was right; it's very comfy. I laid down, closed my eyes, and I was out.

Aunt Vanessa woke me two hours later. I put on my pink skater dress and white blouse. I love these styles of dresses. I put on my lacey ankle socks and my 3-pink pumps. I added some pink eye shadow and pink lipstick. I walked downstairs, one hand always on the railing, especially with my heels.

Ohh my!!! That looks adorable on you! Your makeup is perfect. Thanks, Aunt V. Aunt V smiled at me. It's not too much, is it? Darling, it's beautiful. I love the shoes. They are a bit uncomfortable, but I love the way they look. Besides, I'm a girl now; girls wear heels, I said. Yes, we do, said Aunt V.

Aunt V takes me to the garage. It has 4 stalls, of which 2 are empty. The first stall has a white Cadillac Escalade, and the second one has a light purple Porsche 911 GT-3 Turbo. I'm in awe as I gaze upon the cars. Do you like my toy? I asked Aunt V. It's beautiful, I exclaimed.

Work hard in school, get yourself a law degree, and you can have one too. I will, Aunt V. Far better than mom's beating up Camry. We jump in the big SUV and head towards the outskirts of the city. We stopped at this Oriental restaurant in the strip mall. They have both Korean and Chinese food.

I followed my Aunt V inside. She's greeted warmly by a very nice Asian woman. Vanessa, how are you? Very well, thank you. Rianna, meet Mrs. Park. She and her husband own the restaurant and the martial arts studio next door. Mr. and Mrs. Park are former Olympic gold medalists and Hap-ki-do masters.

It was very nice to meet you, Mrs. Park, I curtsey. Nice to meet you, Rianna. Please call me Ree. Will you be signing her up? asked Mrs. Park. I want to; however, I am still recovering from surgery.

That's right, I remember that. How are you feeling, Ree? Stronger every day; the pain is tolerable without medicine now. I'm just waiting for the doctor to clear me to start dance class. Aunt V says I can try out for the cheerleader position at my new school. That's great; Hap-ki-do will help you with that too, said Mrs. Park.

We have classes on Saturday too. That sounds great, I said. We collected our dinner and said goodbye. As we drove home, Aunt V said there was your dance studio as we drove by. We'll stop by there soon and get you signed up.

I keep thinking to myself, I am going to be very busy out here. Dance, gymnastics, hap-ki-do, and yoga. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all. How's mom going to pay for it all? I just hope Cathy can get us a great settlement from Newhouse's.

Back in Ohio

It's only been a few days since my son left, and now my daughter has left for Vegas. My home is so quiet. Ree calls me almost every night. But it's not the same.

My sweet, innocent child is gone and adjusting to her whole identity as a teenage girl. Everyone at my salon has been supportive. The incident is all anyone wants to talk about.

I say as little as possible about the incident; this town is so small that everything gets blown out of proportion. The business has increased, which helps. I opened the salon the following Monday and walked Mrs. Newhouse.

I think, What's next? Maybe she's going to try to close me down. Hello Brenda. Hello Isabella, how may I help you? I'd like to make an appointment for a wash, cut, and blowout. I smiled and checked my appointment book.

When and who would you like it to be with? You and your next available time, please. I have a cancellation. Will noon be fine? Yes, thank you. She smiled and walked out. Over the next few weeks, the town elite filtered in and out of my salon. My girls were as busy as they have ever been.

I tell my stylist to keep the chitchat in check about the incident. Everything is a public record. As far as I'm concerned, if people want to know, they can look up the court's records. I can't help but wonder if there is more behind all this interest in our little salon.

I called Cathy and told her everything that was going on. Cathy said to just stay quiet about it. Cathy said she has a plan; just stay cool, enjoy the extra business, and save your money. So for now, that's what I am doing. I started making a few improvements to the salon. While saving most of the extra money.

My girls and I started booking more appointments and working more hours than ever. We even booked a few last-minute big wedding parties. It was almost too much work.

I missed Ree terribly. But with her in Vegas with Vanessa, I knew she was in good hands. He was always a good, gentle, and polite boy. I know she'll be a darling and charming young woman.

while in Vegas.

Aunt V had me seeing the therapist and cosmetic surgeon down the hall from her office. They are very nice. They both consulted Doctor Yung back home. Martina, my Aunt V's housekeeper, kept an eye on me.

Martina has been great. She taught me how to cook and bake, but I still have a long way to go. She taught me how to clean. Martina made sure I exercised without overdoing it. She was very insistent about my dilation therapy.

Aunt V taught me how to use the bidet and how to administer my own enemas. She said a clean girl is a happy girl. I had a regular routine of therapy, enemas twice a day, and walking and laps in the pool.

I grew an inch at my last checkup and was a trim 107 lbs and 5' 5". My pain was almost nil now. I have my check-up tomorrow. I plan to start dancing and kap-ki-doing very soon. I've been cleared and doing yoga at night with my Aunt V. While I miss Mom, it's been great here with Aunt V.

One night, she and I drove up and down the strip, where all the casinos were. The lights, people, and all the events were incredible. She said she would take me to a showgirls chorus line show soon. I can't wait.

So far, things are getting better. I'm beginning to get used to the HRT. I'm napping less. My night terrors are still there. Therapy is helping me control them. My therapist wanted to prescribe me some medication, but I really don't like drugs, so I said no.

My check-up went really well. My Vegas doctor, Doctor Katrina Mitchell, brought in a specialist for my visit. Doctor Sophia Channel is from San Francisco, California. She agreed with Dr. Mitchell that I was healing nicely and was ready for regular exercise and dance practice. They both complimented me on my dilation therapy. They adjusted my HRT medication and said to come back in a month for more blood work.

Aunt V and I were excited to hear the news. We immediately hightailed it to the Hap-ki-do studio and the dance studio for scheduling. Finally, I was going to get out and about. While still nervous about being around people, especially kids my age, I keep reminding myself that I'm a girl now.

My trace was shaved; I have only girl bits and breasts. My voice never changed, my skin never got rough, and my body hair was nil. Thanks to Aunt V and her salon, I'd never get body hair. Aunt V paid for full-body hair laser removal. All that's left now is to make a friend or two before school starts.

Mrs. Park was at the Hap-ki-do studio when we arrived. She greeted us with a smile. Ree, Are you ready to sign up? Yes Ma'am. Very well. She gave us an application to fill out and a list of everything I'd need for class. We thanked her and went to the dance studio.

We walked into the dance studio. We were met by the headmistress, Mistress Walker. Again, Aunt V knew her well. Mistress Walker was a very beautiful woman; she had golden brown hair and a sculpted body—a true dancer's body.

We were given the forms and a list of everything I would need. My after-school times were going to be very busy. The last stop was the gymnastics gym.

This looked to be the most fun of the three. We met with Coach Karpov. I saw her on TV years ago at the Olympics. She won a bronze medal for floor exercises and a silver medal for the vault.

I was very proud just to meet her. When I mentioned I remember her competing 8 years ago, she smiled and asked, How old were you? 6 years old. I told her my mom was a huge fan of gymnastics.

Coach Karpov smiled. Do you have any gymnastics training? she asked. Yes, I do. Vault, parallel bars. I have also been trained in men's floor exercises. Oops! I thought to myself. Men's floor exercises? She asked. Yes, Coach Karpov, said Aunt V to my rescue.

Rianna was severely beaten a few months ago. So badly that she had to become a girl. Oh my dear, how awful for you, said Coach Karpov. Are you the victim from Ohio? She asked. Yes, ma'am, I said, bowing my head sadly.

Coach Karpov gently raised my chin with her finger. I looked at her and asked, How did you know? Sweetheart, we do have the internet here. You don't need to worry, honey; you're safe here.

What are your goals for gymnastics, Ree? I want to be a cheerleader and coach. I said. Well, then you came to the right place. I train many cheerleaders. Almost all of them have zero gymnastics experience. I just started coaching the Las Vegas Raider Cheerleaders this season.

If you work hard and behave yourself, maybe I can introduce you both to them. Really?! I perked right up. Yes, really, Ree. Those girls train as hard as the football players. A good part of their routines is gymnastics. I hugged Coach Karpov. I looked up and said thank you with teary-eyed eyes.

We headed home, and I made chicken quesadillas and Spanish rice for dinner. Aunt V was impressed. This is Martina's recipe! Aunt V stated. Yes, Aunt V; she's been teaching me all kinds of domestic skills.

When I asked her to look after you, I'd never thought she'd teach you to cook. Cook, bake, do laundry, and clean. Ree, you don't have to do all that. Sure, I do, I said. A girl's got to earn her keep. I smiled.

Aunt V, you've given me everything since I've been here; mom's buried in work by herself. You work full-time; it just doesn't seem fair for me to not contribute. Besides, I am learning so much. Well, it all makes sense now. Aunt V said.

What's that? I asked. The house! Martina is an excellent housekeeper, but I've noticed how much more organized everything is lately. Martina was wondering when you'd notice. When she gives me little chores, she does other things she's always wanted to do here.

Like? Aunt V asked. I organized our bras by color and material for starters, I said. And my suits and skirts by color and designer? Guilty, I smiled. Martina showed me. Mine is set up exactly the same way.

Martina helped me organize my closet. So when I was done, I started on yours. It took me 3 days to get it done. Aunt V hugged me tightly. I hugged back as tightly as possible. Oh, Ree, I missed these hugs, she said, tearing up. So do I, Auntie!

We finished eating and led me to my room. Okay, sweetie, show me. I showed her my dressers and closet with pride. My bed is always made. She was just smiling widely with impressed pleasure. It made me feel good.

Ree This is amazing. Keep this up, and you'll have designer clothes to go next to these. Thank you for everything, Aunt V! I really mean it. There's no way I'd be where I am without you, Mom, and Cathy. She hugged me tightly again and kissed my cheek. We both teared up.

We watched ”Suits" on Netflix. I love watching this show. The women are so confident, graceful, and intelligent. I want to be just like that one day.

Just like Cathy, she's gorgeous, confident, graceful, and powerful. With all that, Cathy still has a great heart, just like Mom and my Aunt V. I vow to become them and to learn everything I can.

Things move so fast here; this week I started hap-ki-do, and next week I will do ballet and gymnastics. I love hap-ki-do. It's the soft style of karate. It teaches you to use the opponent's energy against them. We have a mix of boys and girls. The girls seem nice enough, but I'm pegged as the new kid because everyone knows everyone else.

I stay quiet. I listened to my instructor and did my best. It's all concentration and focus. We are doing forms, with each step a different movement of striking or defense. It's only a few movements and boring, but I focus on each one.

We do pushups, crunches, and lots of stretching. Stretching is easy for me; yoga has helped me a lot here. Mr. Park was impressed. The class was always intense, and it helped me clear my head. I really enjoyed the class, despite the other kids ignoring me. All things in time, I'd say to myself.

Aunt V picked me up, and we headed home. We have an appointment with the dance supply store, she said. We walked into the store together. I was immediately immersed in girlland. Leotards, Unitards, leggings, and tutu are everywhere. All at once, I was excited; I wanted everything. Aunt V handed the list of things I'd need to the lady helping us.

I see you are Mistress Walker's student. Yes, ma'am, I said. Right this way, she waved her hand toward the changing rooms. Strip to your bra and pants, and I'll be right back to measure you. She came back with a measuring tape. She measured me in more areas than ever.

You're a tiny thing. She said. But you're toned nicely. Thank you. I swim and do yoga. It shows. I proceed to try on leggings, leotards, unitards, ballet shoes, and tutus. Aunt V loved it so much she was tearing up. Aunt V took pictures of the outfits and texted them to Mom and Cathy.

Mom and Cathy both started bombing Aunt V's phone and mine. Wanting details and recital dates. It was exciting to see their enthusiasm. My mind was beginning to feel in line with my body. Now all I needed was a friend or two to share my hopes and dreams with.

Aunt V and Martina were relentless in correcting me all the time. Though lately not nearly as much. My walk had a nice sway too. I trained myself to walk like Donna in the "Suits" show I watched. I was always smiling.

Even when you're sad in public, always smile, said Aunt V. I made it a habit of getting up at 6 a.m. to swim every day. I was up to 20 laps. Aunt V wouldn't allow sunbathing. She said If you want to look young, stay out of the sun.

I never argued with her or Martina. They pretty much let me know what they wanted when things weren't busy. My TV time was minimal. I haven't played a video game in weeks. I was way too busy learning to be a girl.

Truth be told, I was really beginning to enjoy it. It's a lot of work to be a girl. Hair, makeup, clothes, and learning new mannerisms. As the HRT took hold, my brain, mind, and body seemed to start working together.

Aunt V and I went shopping at the mall in Cesar's Palace one Saturday afternoon, and I noticed the boys following me, whispering and staring at me. It made me feel good.

As we were leaving the mall, I got a call from Cathy. She wanted Aunt V and me to visit her at her parent's vineyard in Napa Valley. Aunt V made the arrangements for the following weekend. We turned around and went back to the mall to buy boots. We both bought high-ankle black combat-styled boots with 3" heels.

This week was busy for me. I had my entrance exam on Wednesday morning at my new school. Monday and Wednesday, I had hap-ki-do at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, I had ballet at 6 p.m. and gymnastics on Saturday.

I wasn't sure I could do it all. Aunt V said not to worry. It will all work out. Aunt V made arrangements for me to do gymnastics this Friday morning so I wouldn't miss anything. Still, in July, school was 7 weeks away from starting.

I was packed up and ready by Wednesday night. As tired as I was from everything, it was more mental than physical. I was in great shape, and I really felt good for the first time. I wrote Mom a letter about everything. I emailed and texted updates, but my letters reflected my feelings.

Friday, at 12 p.m., Aunt V and I got on this small twin-engine plane and flew to an airport just outside Napa Valley. Cathy picked us up. I loved her car. Silver Audi A-4. It was about a 30-minute drive to the vineyard. It was breathtakingly scenic. Mountains in the background, rolling hills. It looked like a painting, but it's all real.

She pulled into the driveway, and it was still another 2 minutes until we saw the house. It was an older home, a colonial 2-story. It looked well-maintained. We started to unload. When two men walked out to greet us, The older man I was guessing was her father; the other man was about Cathy's age and wearing a wedding ring.

Ladies, meet my father, Hank, and this is my husband, Caleb. Caleb said, Let me get those. He took most of the bags. Hank grabbed the rest. Caleb was enormous. 6' 6" tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, and a bright smile.

He had muscles everywhere. When we walked into the house, it smelled like an Italian restaurant. Cathy's mom was Asian and had beautiful black hair and green eyes, just like Cathy's. This is what my mother May said, Cathy. Nice to meet you, I said. I curtsied. She smiled.

Cathy told us the history of the vineyard. She said, like many families that own vineyards, that it has been in their family for over 150 years. They made 12 different types of wine and 12 different types of small-batch signature wine. She showed us their awards wall. It was covered with awards going back almost 100 years.

Can I try some? I asked. Of course, if it's okay with your aunt, It's tradition to drink wine with dinner. Small single glass for children. You may have one glass of water. Thanks, Auntie V; I smiled. Mom used to let me have a small glass at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cathy showed us our room. Aunt V and I shared a King-size bed. It was a brass bed with lots of quilts and lace. The bathroom was right across the hall. Aunt V and I started getting dressed for dinner. I changed into a cute flower-patterned summer dress. Aunt V wore a similar dress. We both wore 3" heels.

Dinner here was an event. Mrs. Pambini and Cathy really put on a show. Chicken Florentine, Italian wedding soup, homemade breadsticks, and salad. Mr. Pambini and I set the table, and he poured the wine—a chardonnay, I think.

As we were about to sit down to eat, I noticed I had put out too many plates. I asked him about it. Caleb said my aunt and her wife would be joining us. I caught what Caleb said and stayed quiet; I didn't want to seem rude.

Not a minute later, I walked Two beautiful women. The blonde-haired woman was at least as tall as my aunt, at 5' 10", and her wife, with dark red hair, was a couple inches shorter. They were smiling, holding hands. Aunt V walked over and hugged and kissed her.

Becky, Bree This is my niece, Rianna, from Ohio. I curtseyed and said hello, offering a limp handshake. Aren't you a doll? Becky said with a very friendly smile. And we'll be mannered too, said Bree.

It's a pleasure to meet you. Cathy tells me you want to be a lawyer. Yes, ma'am, I said proudly. Have you thought about where you want to go to college? I thought about Notre Dame or Indiana University, but living out here, I think of Stanford. Those are all good schools. How are your grades? asked Becky. I had a 3.95 GPA last year.

Where are you going this year? The Meadows School. This fall in Las Vegas. That's a great school. You have to participate in extracurricular activities to get accepted to a good school. I want to be a cheerleader and join the drama club, I said. Join the debate club too, Rianna. Debate is a big part of practicing law. Good idea, ma'am. Thank you.

I couldn't take my eyes off them. Bree had large, beautiful breasts. Her eyeliner was double-winged and perfect. It looked tattooed; I loved it. I saw something shiny in her mouth. I said nothing. Bree had a septum, three small rings in her right nostril, and a stud in her left.

I studied Bree, her piercings, her breasts, her body, and the way she moved. It was graceful, almost over-the-top feminine. I also noticed her index finger was shorter than the ring finger.

I used to be a boy, too. As I studied everyone at dinner, I noticed only Mr. Pambini was the only one who didn't have earrings. Caleb had two in each ear and a left nose stud.

Bree I love your eyeliner. I said she smiled sweetly at me and said thank you. Becky beamed a smile at me. I kind of figured everyone at the table knew my story. When you turn 16, and if your mother approves, well, see about you getting yours done, but not as heavy as Bree's.

Really, Aunt V? Really sweetheart, but not until then, said Aunt V. I never really had a full family dinner; it was a real treat for me. Chatting, passing all the food. It was like the Sunday dinner scenes in the Blue Bloods TV show.

Dinner was fantastic; I told Mrs. Pambini as much. I started cleaning the table. Caleb and Bree helped. Ree, you don't have to do this, my nephew, and I got this covered. I know, but they cooked us clean; that's the rule, correct? She's right, Aunt Bree. She sure is Caleb, and smart too. I smiled. Caleb finished his part, and Cathy asked him to bring some wine to their room. Be right there, Cat, he called back.

Aunt V was talking on the porch with Mrs. Pambini and Becky. Mr. Pambini was watching the news. I did a head check to make sure Bree and I were alone. Bree? Can I ask you a personal question? I'm an open-book sweetheart. You were a boy once, like me? Yes, I was. How'd you guess? Your fingers, Bree. You are a clever girl. Thank you, I said.

Do you ever miss being a boy? No Ree I don't. Since the day I met Becky, I have lived as a girl. I have been so much happier as a girl. Becky and her friends saved my life. Really? Really Ree, it's a long story; the quick version is that Becky and her friends went out of their way to give me my dream and treated me with friendship, therapy, and discipline. I was suffering from both PTSD and depression.

I love your ears, Ree. Thanks; that's with Cathy's help. Can I tell you a secret, Bree? Sure, honey. Cathy is my role model. I want to be like her. You picked a great role model, Rianna. I have PTSD too—night sweats, night terrors. Do you exercise, Ree, all the time? Aunt V and her housekeeper, Martina, see to it that I swim and do yoga. I just started hip-ki-do and gymnastics. On Tuesday, I start ballet.

How is your recovery progressing? I was just cleared by the doctor, and I'm 100% now. Is your dilation therapy going well? I am actually beginning to really enjoy dilation a lot. Do you dilate, Bree? No, sweetheart, I can't yet; maybe in a few years.

Do you still have your boy bits? Just a tiny penis. I had an orchiectomy almost two years ago when I got my new breasts. How big were you before your implants? was a C-cup, hormones helped me grow to a D-cup, Doctor Channel gave me Double D's, and I love them. So do I; they look perfect on you. Thank you, Rianna.

You know Doctor Channel? I asked. Dr. Channel was consulting with my doctors Mitchell and Yung on my surgeries when I was cleared to start exercising.

Yes, Dr. Sophia Channel; did all my work. She did all my niece Terri's work too. Terri had SRS surgery too, just like you.

Rianna, if it's okay to ask, can you tell me what happened exactly? I hesitated for a moment; I knew I could trust her. Before I do, can I ask, were you ever the subject of bullying or horrible jokes in school?

All the time, Rianna, it only ended when I decided to fight back. When they realized I wasn't going back down or giving up and was ready to kill, they left me alone. But it took a long time for me to learn it.

The four boys that attacked me did it all at once. I didn't have a chance. I proceeded to tell her the whole story. Bree poured herself a glass of wine and poured me a short one of wine too.

It actually felt good sharing it with her. Sipping wine with her made me feel like an equal adult. Talking with Brianna was like sharing with a big sister.

Just as I was finishing my story, Mrs. Pambini walked in. Oh, Rianna I knew a little, but I didn't know how bad, you poor dear. Mrs. Pambini hugged me tightly. She kissed my cheek. I'm sorry, honey; I wasn't trying to eavesdrop.

It's okay, ma'am, I said. I am not sure what kind of boy you were. But I think you're a lovely, intelligent young woman. Thank you, Mrs. Pambini. Call me May, Ree.

You must be very proud of Cathy. She has been a huge help to my mother and me. We are, honey! Now all we need are grandchildren. We all giggled.

I said that between her and Caleb, they should be beautiful children. My thoughts exactly, Ree. Have you ever had Korean food? No, May, I haven't. Well, dinner tomorrow is Korean.

For now, you better get some rest; tomorrow we'll give you the grand tour. We'll show you how to cut grapes too. It sounds like fun, I said. Aunt V said we should probably get ready for bed.

Sleeping with Aunt V was the first true good night's sleep I have had since the incident. I dressed in a new white babydoll nightie; it was satin with white lace trim.

I love my nights. Aunt V wore a black knee-length nightgown. After I woke up, I put on my mules with 4" heels and went to the bathroom. Caleb was just leaving the bathroom.

He was shirtless, only in tight shorts. His upper body was ripped with muscles. I was shocked and started getting turned on just looking at him.

His nipples were pierced with rings with balls in the center, and his naval was double-pierced. He had three piercings on each hip. He had a huge bulge in front of his shorts. I couldn't help but stare in shocked awe!

Morning, Ree, he said, smiling. Good morning, Caleb. You look very cute this morning; I love that on you in heels too. Very nice young lady. He took my hand gently and motioned for me to spin. Let's show Cathy quickly. Holding my hand, he led me to Cathy's bedroom.

Look who I ran into, Cat! Oh, Ree, that nightie is so you and those mules! Oh, girl, it's perfect on you. I curtsied and thanked her. Cathy was in a black sheer bodysuit that left almost nothing to the imagination.

Her body had four hip piercings, a double naval exposed in the middle of the bodysuit, and a dangling heart. Her nipples were pierced too.

You two have a lot of body piercings, I said. I love them. You can too if you want them when you get a little older, honey. They stuck their tongues out at me, and they were pierced too. I blushed. That's so sexy, I said, blushing red.

You're going to break hearts before you know it, Rianna, Cathy said. Be careful around the boys, said Caleb. If you have a problem with them, I'll straighten them out. Thank Caleb; he had a killer smile.

I went back to the bathroom and washed up. When I got back, I walked into the room without knocking; Aunt V was naked. My jaw dropped. I studied her body for a brief moment before turning around. It's okay, Ree, she said. You know my truth: we live together, and it's going to happen eventually.

Take a look. Rianna. I turned slowly around. Aunt V had double D breasts, maybe E cups. They fit her frame beautifully. She had a flat stomach with semi-washboard abs. Her nipples were pierced, and her naval double was pierced.

She had five piercings on each hip. 2 back nipple piercings. What really got my attention was her penis. It had to be 9" long. She, just like me, had zero body hair. Ree, it's okay to be curious. I already told you.

Do you ever plan to have surgery? I asked. No, sweetheart, I don't. I am very happy as I am. You are so beautiful, Auntie. As are you, Rianna. Can I get pierced like you? Maybe when you're older. I'd like my body pierced like Cathy's.

We can talk about that soon enough. Let's get you to school first before we start poking holes in you. You're probably right, Auntie. I was saddened by the answer, but I knew she was right.

Come on, girl, let's get some breakfast. I could smell the coffee as we walked down the stairs. I wore my skinny jeans and new boots. May handed me a tiny coffee cup.

She said breakfast would be ready soon; why don't you enjoy that on the back porch? I walked through the house, opened the back door, and saw this amazing view.

The vineyard stretched as far as my eyes could see. There was a light, hazy mist that glistened over the fields of grapevines. The sun was rising in the east. It made the mist look magical. I sat on the porch swing, taking it all in.

Aunt V sat beside me and put her arm around me. I took a sip of the espresso and leaned my head on her breast like I always did with Mom.

It's the most beautiful view I've ever seen. It's magical, I said. Thank you, Auntie, for everything, I said. You're welcome, sweetie; she kissed my forehead.

Cathy and Caleb came out and joined us. I saw Cathy snuggle into Caleb with his muscular arms around her. We sat there, just enjoying the view and the sweet morning air.

Breakfast!!! May shouts. We all went in as Hank was finishing setting the table. Scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, and fruit. I had some eggs, one sausage link, and some fruit. We ate just like a real family.

I was beginning to get used to family dining. I hear a quad approaching. Becky and Bree showed up just after we sat down.

Sorry, we're late, said Becky; it's a long ride from the cabin. Cabin? I asked. Cathy answered. We have a small cabin on the far side of the vineyard. It's very secluded.

Who's up for a tour? Asked Hank. I'm in, I said. Me too, said Aunt V. I won't say no, said Caleb. Becky and Bree said we're in. Go on ahead, Dad said to Cathy. I'm going to help mom for a bit. Ok, darling, said Hank. Cathy kissed his cheek.

Hank and Caleb brought out the quads. Caleb drives the big two-seater over to us. Do you ladies know how to operate one of these? I do! I said it proudly. Okay, Ree, climb on, Caleb said as I climbed on.

Vanessa, May I help you ask, Caleb? Yes Please. Caleb helps Vanessa on the quad. I see Bree driving the other big quad with Becky holding onto her. Caleb and Hank are each on their own quad. Hank says to follow me.

We start out on the perimeter road. We go slow. Vanessa is holding me tight. Becky is a bit more relaxed. It's okay, Auntie; I won't bump you off. I said. She relaxes a little. The road is a bit bumpy, but Hank keeps a relaxed pace.

Caleb keeps a sharp eye on us, especially me. We stop where the field crew is collecting the grapes. Ree, Vanessa, come here; let me show you how we harvest the grape.

Opening the toolbox on the back of his quad, Hank hands us gloves and hook-shaped knives. He shows what grapes to cut and how to cut them.

We cut grapes for about 30 minutes. Okay,  enough cutting. Let's press on, shall we? said Hank. We continue on the road until we come to a small creek. We crossed the small bridge. We see the small cabin. We stopped and headed inside for a short rest. Becky and Vanessa need to relax a bit.

The quad ride is a bit too bumpy for them. After a bottle of water, We head out. We come up to a big warehouse. Inside are hundreds of wood barrels. There are dates, types, and other information labeled on each one. There are giant press machines for every variety. It looks like a factory of sorts.

It's an interesting sight. A crew brings in a collection of grapes. They washed, rinsed, and prepared for the press. The press slowly presses down on the grapes. The juice flows into a large wooden barrel. Ingredients are added, and the barrel contents are blended. The barrel is labeled and dated.

Hank explains the whole process. He explained about the fermentation process. You can tell Hank loves what he does. I am impressed with the science that goes into winemaking. It's a labor of love for him. Making good wine is as much about the love we put into it as the grapes we grow, said Hank.

We go up and down row after row of vines. It's an incredible sight. Hank stops and inspects the vines, taking notes. Grapes anyone? Asked Hank. Yes, please, I said. Go on, serve yourself. I don my gloves and grab the cutting knife. Each grape is so sweet. It's almost like candy. Directly off the vine, it tastes so much better.

Time went by fast in the field. We returned to the house. Becky and Bree took their quad back to their cabin. When we walked in, Cathy and May were already preparing dinner. Cathy handed Hank and Caleb each a cold beer from the fridge. Thanks, Cat said, and Caleb kissed her cheek.

I could smell different aromas floating in the air at once. Cathy and her mother were speaking in Korean. I listened, not understanding anything they said. Just then, Hank responded in Korean. I smiled. Aunt V smiled as well. Aunt V said something in Italian, and Cathy responded back.

I said it smells great in Spanish, and Cathy and Hank answered in Spanish too. I took Spanish in the 8th and 9th grades. Since hanging around Martina, my Spanish has been getting better.

Vanessa joined in Spanish, then floored us all by switching to German. None of us knew German. We all laughed. Hank said that it's important to learn different languages. Especially Spanish out west, once you're fluent in Spanish, Italian is easy.

Becky responded that it's also great for college applications. Bilingualism or more is great for any college or job. Who speaks the most languages here? I asked. May says I think Cathy and I are tied at 5. We both speak English, Spanish, Korean, and Italian. The difference is that she speaks French and I speak Japanese.

That's impressive, I said. It helps when your parents are bilingual, said Cathy. Where did you learn Spanish, Rianna? Back in Ohio, I took it in the 8th and 9th grades. Your accent isn't too bad. Martina has been helping me with it.

Dinner in 30 minutes, everyone, said May. Aunt V and I head upstairs to freshen up. We found two boxes on our bed. One had a big V on it, and the other said Ree. We opened them up and found Oriental wrap dresses that were buttoned just below the shoulder, on the side, and just above and below the waist.

They looked like they were made from silk. They had gold trim and buttons. Mine was bright purple, and Aunt V's was a dark blue. They hung mid-thigh with a slit on one side that went almost to the top of the thigh. There was a card on the bed. Aunt V said to open it.

I opened the card. It said.

For our little sister, our adopted granddaughter, and her wonderful aunt,.

Love,

May and Cathy.

I went all out on my makeup and did the best Oriental style I could. Aunt V did the same. I did my eyes in a purple smokey eye with cat-style eyeliner; it was a bit heavy but tasteful. Aunt V did the same. We took selfies and sent them to mom.

When we got downstairs, Becky and Bree were dressed similarly to us. Becky was in red, and Bree was in a dark purple. May's dress was black, and Cathy's was a dark cherry red. Hank was dressed in black slacks and a black silk dress shirt; Caleb was in black slacks and a dark cherry red shirt that matched Cathy's dress.

You girls look lovely, said May. Thank you for the beautiful dress, I said. You are most welcome, Ree Ree! I smiled when she called me Ree Ree. It sounded like a grandma praising her granddaughter.

Cathy said you look as pretty as I imagined you would Ree! Cathy squeaked, smiling. I began to give them a touch and hugged them both.

May said I thought if we're going to eat Korean, we should dress Korean. I love it, May said, to Aunt V.

We have beef bulgogi, shrimp fried rice, kimchi, and white rice. The aromas floating around were intoxicating. From Korea, I have some rice wine. We all sat and passed the dishes around. The kimchi was spicy. Cathy said to eat the white rice with the kimchi.

The texture of the kimchi was different, but it was great. The bulgogi was very tasty. I loved the fried rice. The rice wine was also enjoyable. The food wasn't far different from Chinese food. But it was great. I knew I had to learn how to cook this too. We were chatting, laughing, and carrying on like a family would. I was enjoying the whole experience.

I started clearing the table, and Caleb came into the kitchen and helped me. Caleb touched my hand gently and said, How are you doing, adjusting and all? I was a bit shocked at the question.

When I looked up at him, the look on his face showed only care and concern. I'm adjusting, as I said. It helps a lot to be able to start fresh out west.

You know, my sister, Terri, is transgender too. Since she started her transition, I've never seen her happier than she is now.

Really, I asked. Yes, really, he said. When we were boys, we never got along. We were so different. When Terri moved to San Francisco to help Aunt Becky, he met a trans girl and started dating her. Soon he was dressing more femininely every day.

Then one day, he decided to go all-girl. He realized that becoming a girl was his happy place. He became Terri, my sister. We are much closer now. I'd do anything to protect her. That goes for you too. If you need a big brother, you can call me anytime.

I teared up a bit and hugged him tightly. I kissed his cheek, and Cathy walked in. Easy, sweetie; that's my man, your kissing. She was smiling. I hugged her tightly and kissed her cheek too.

Thanks, little sister, said Cathy. Finish up, you two. The sun is setting. Cathy grabbed a tray and glasses. She said to grab two bottles of Chardonnay from the wine fridge, Ree, and join us on the front porch.

Caleb and I started the dishwasher and put things away. I grabbed the bottles, and Caleb grabbed the corkscrew. Caleb poured the wine as we watched the sunset over the trees and hills.

You could see the different colors reflected in the trees and on the hill. This place was magical. I can see why Mr. and Mrs. Pambini love it here.

I stared at the setting sun. May wrapped her arms around me. May said your family to us now. I hope we'll see more of you and Vanessa. I can't wait to meet your mother. I turned and hugged her tightly and kissed her cheek too. Where's mine Hank bellowed.

I gave the same. Ohhh! That's a Cathy-style hug, he said as I kissed his cheek. Becky and Bree were cuddling close as the sunset. I thought of Mom alone in Ohio. I knew she'd love this. I hope we can do this with her soon. I love my new extended family. I still miss my mother.
