OTHER CHAPTER | ALL STORY LIST
The club started clearing out and Daryl attended to his other customers. Eventually, he made his way back to the table where his friends were sitting.
Evan and Jordyn weren't sitting at the table. Nicole was playing with the rim of her drink, watching the crowd milling about.
She was clearly bored.
"Where are Jordyn and Evan?"
Daryl asked Nicole "They went for a ride in Evan's Porsche," Nicole said. "A ride," Daryl said with surprise, "at this time of night."
"I know," Nicole agreed. "I'm stuck here now. I rode here with Evan." "Let's go back to my place," Daryl suggested.
"We can talk there."
Daryl told Delicia he was leaving a bit early as Nicole gathered her things. When they arrived at the apartment, Daryl immediately sat down and took off his heels. "I love how these heels make my legs look," Daryl said.
"But I hate how they make my feet feel."
Daryl rubbed his feet hard while he spoke. Nicole giggled a little.
"I wish I could wear heels like those," she said. "Why don't you?"
Daryl asked. "At my height, I would look like an Amazon woman," Nicole answered.
"I think you would look very sexy in high heels," Daryl reassured her. "You're sweet," Nicole answered.
"Do you mind if I ask you something personal?"
"Not at all,"
Daryl answered as he walked into the kitchen. He took out a bottle of Sprite and offered one to Nicole. She was now sitting at the counter. She shook her head and continued with her question.
"Are you gay?"
Nicole asked. The words barely were out of her mouth when she started to explain her question.
"It's perfectly okay with me if you are. The only reason I asked is because of your reputation. I've heard so many stories about all the women you have bedded. I was wondering if any of them were true."
Daryl leaned against the counter.
"It's funny you should ask that," Daryl began.
"A few months ago, I would have said that I would never be gay. But a person's circumstances seem to change their attitudes. Since I have been dressing this way and living my life as a woman, I have found men to be more attractive."
"So to answer your question," Daryl continued, "Yes I have made love to lots of women. I have also learned to enjoy making love to men. I don't know what that makes me. I do know that I am at ease with my sexuality." Nicole gave Daryl an approving smile.
Daryl sat on a stool facing Nicole. He crossed his legs, in a very feminine manner, and said to Nicole, "So what's your story? Who have you been sleeping with lately?" Nicole's face turned bright red. "To tell you the truth, I've only made love twice," she shyly said.
"What," Daryl said with astonishment, "You've got to be kidding."
"No," Nicole commonly said, "I wish I weren't"
"You're such a beautiful woman," Daryl said, "I assumed that you were juggling several lovers."
"Let me explain," Nicole said. A very serious look came over her face.
"When I was in high school, I spent all of my time playing basketball. I was so consumed by it I never dated. One night after the state championship, I was in the gym giving interviews until very late.
After the interviews were complete, it was just me and my coach remaining. I went to take a shower. Soon she joined me. I was young and didn't know what to do. Before I knew what was happening, I was on the floor and she was on top of me." Nicole started to cry.
Daryl said, "You poor dear. Please you don't have to talk about it anymore." Nicole straightened up and said, "No, I want to talk. Afterward, she made me promise not to tell anyone. I never have, until now."
Daryl stood up and hugged Nicole. She hugged Daryl back and said, "I shouldn't be burdening you with this, but for some reason, I think you'll understand." "I do, I do," Daryl said.
Nicole broke the hug and sat back down. "The other time I made love was four years later.
I was at Penn State where I went to college. At a party one night, I suddenly felt very uneasy. My head seemed to be spinning and I couldn't keep my balance.
A guy at the party took me upstairs to a couch where I could lay down. Suddenly he started taking my clothes off. I was helpless to stop him. He took advantage of me. It was horrible."
"Oh Nicole," Daryl said. "I'm so sorry that I asked."
"Don't be," a now relieved Nicole said. "It feels good to finally find someone to share it with."
"You haven't told anyone?" Daryl asked."
"No, I was confused and frightened, but not anymore," Nicole responded.
"Nicole," Daryl said, "You are a very brave and beautiful woman who has so much to offer. Don't hide your feelings away. Anyone would be lucky to be with a woman like you."
Just as Daryl finished, Nicole grabbed him by the hips and kissed him hard. Daryl was stunned at first. He didn't let his surprise stop her.
"Don't take your dress off," Nicole said. Realizing that she sounded too demanding, Nicole said, "Please, you look so sexy. I want to see you make love to me just as you are."
He entered Nicole and she climaxed immediately.
Daryl suddenly stopped. He realized that Nicole was so horny and wanting more she would do anything for him.
She had dreamed about having a lover many times, but never like this. She was so turned on by this beautiful man.
He was feminine in all the right ways, but masculine in the way that counted the most.
"Deeper, deeper," she begged. "I want to feel you; I want to feel you cum!" Daryl had never been with a woman so starved for sex.
He wanted to continue to make love to her, but he could feel the wave coming over him. He tried to hold back, but couldn't any longer.
She obviously enjoyed Daryl being inside of her and she wasn't going to voluntarily let him go. Daryl kissed her on the neck and nibbled her ears as Nicole enjoyed his touch.
"You are so beautiful," she whispered. "I'm a mess," Daryl said as he tossed the condom in the trash. "Complaining?" Nicole asked. "Not at all," Daryl answered. He took Nicole by the hand and led her to the sofa\bed. The lovers cuddled and played with each other for the rest of the night.
"Just a little further," Jordyn said.
"We'll be there soon." Evan grinned at Jordyn and continued to drive.
They had spent the evening sightseeing all around Philadelphia. Neither had noticed or cared what time it was.
They were having too much fun enjoying each other's company. Now they had driven to Wilmington, Delaware, on Jordyn's insistence.
Evan wasn't sure why Jordyn wanted to go there, he just knew that he enjoyed seeing her so excited.
"There it is," Jordyn exclaimed with a big smile, "The Grand Opera House."
"That's what we've been driving for?"
Evan questioned. He parked his red Porsche on the street next to the Opera House.
"Yes it is," Jordyn answered with a hint of anger in her voice. "I think it's beautiful."
Realizing that he had inadvertently upset her, Evan knew he needed to make amends.
"It's hard to see anything as beautiful when you are next to me," he said hoping to get back in Jordyn's good graces.
Jordyn broke her stare from the Opera house long enough to give Evan a smile and tap him on the shoulder. She turned back to look at the building and said, "Someday I'll be there."
"I could probably get us tickets. Is there a particular show you want to see?" Evan said.
Jordyn turned her attention back to Evan.
"Silly, someday I'll perform there," Jordyn said.
"Don't you believe that I can?"
"Jordyn, I believe you could do anything that you wished," Evan said. As they spoke, the sun began to rise and illuminate the car. Jordyn blushed and felt very warm.
She moved closer to Evan and the two shared their first soft, sweet kiss. Evan scooted as close to Jordyn as the bucket seats would allow. He placed his left hand on her hip. He ran his right arm underneath her left arm and gently held her head. Jordyn placed both arms around Evans's neck and ran her fingers through his curly blonde hair.
Evan enjoyed her touch and responded in kind. The sensation of her soft, brunette hair wrapped in his fingers was like none other that he had ever enjoyed. Jordyn couldn't get enough of Evan's attention. He was like no other man she had ever met. While in the midst of their hot embrace, Jordyn had a terrible thought. What would Evan do when he found out she wasn't a complete woman? Fear sat in her heart as she tried to think of what to do next.
She broke the embrace and sat back in her seat. "Did I do something wrong?" Evan questioned.
"If I'm moving too fast I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." Evan said. He was noticeably frustrated and confused.
"No, no, you're wonderful," Jordyn said. "It's me. I'm all wrong for you."
"What do you mean?" Evan asked. "You're great, you're perfect. I don't understand."
Jordyn couldn't look him in the eye. She looked down into her lap and said, "I think we should go home. Daddy is probably worried about us."
"Well, okay," Evan replied. He started the car and turned into the street. Then he said. "I don't know what's wrong, but I'll be here when you are ready." He placed his hand on Jordyn's knee as he spoke. Jordyn took his hand in hers and said, "Thanks."
They barely spoke on the trip to Jordyn's apartment. Jordyn sat nervously, constantly fidgeting, worrying about how to tell Evan she was transgender.
"I hope Dad isn't too worried," Jordyn said as they approached the front door.
"If I know Daryl," Evan said, "He's in bed fast asleep." Jordyn took out her key and opened the door.
They did find Daryl in bed, but he wasn't asleep. He was on top of Nicole, kissing her after another love-making session. The entwined lovers scurried to cover themselves when they noticed the amused pair standing at the door.
"Excuse me," Nicole said as she dashed to the bathroom. Daryl grabbed a nearby bathrobe and slipped it over his exposed flesh.
"So what have you two been doing all night," Daryl said as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"Not having as much fun as you were," Jordyn said giggling. She clearly enjoyed catching her father in a compromising position.
"I guess we should have knocked," Evan said as he sat down in a chair.
"No problem," Daryl said, "We are all adults here. Say, Nicole and I never got around to talking about business last night .... "
"Obviously," Jordyn injected. She was still giggling.
Daryl continued, ignoring Jordyn's comments. "Did you two find out anything?"
"Yes, we did," Evan said sitting up straight and showing sudden interest. "The Kent facility was set up just as the merge was announced. You'll never believe who was in charge of the project."
"Linda Berman," Daryl answered.
"That's right," a visibly puzzled Evan said. "But you'll never guess who was listed as the project requestor.'
"Adrian Harper," Daryl answered.
"How did you know that?" Nicole questioned as she returned from the bathroom. She had put her hair back up in a bun and put Jordyn's robe that she found in the bathroom. She seemed to be very uneasy with getting caught in a clutch with Daryl.
Jordyn noticed her anxious behavior and decided not to tease Daryl in front of Nicole. Nicole stood on the opposite side of the room, almost as if she was trying to be by herself.
"I overheard them chatting in the elevator," Daryl answered. "They said the project had to be completed in two weeks."
"That makes sense," Evan said. "We have an external audit slated to start two weeks from Monday. If they want to move the cash, it will have to be done before then."
"Just those two couldn't pull this off," Nicole injected. "Even with all their power, they would still need a lot of help."
"We can't go to the authorities yet," Daryl said, "They would just deny everything and blame me for the paperwork trail."
"So what are we going to do?" Jordyn asked.
"Maybe we can find out some more answers at the Gibson party," Evan suggested. "Gibson party," Daryl questioned, "What's that?"
"You remember Thomas Gibson, head of sales," Evan explained. "The company is throwing him a big farewell party on his retirement this Tuesday at Richard Harrison's place. All the executive staff will be there. Maybe I can find out something in the small talk."
"Great," Daryl said. "These frauds love to run their big mouths, especially after a few drinks."
"Of course, I'll need a date," Evan said as he looked toward Jordyn. Jordyn's face became red. She wanted so much to go with Evan to a fancy party, but she feared where it might lead her.
Could she spend the night with him without him and not let him know she was transgender?
"Well, I .... " Jordyn started to say.
"Don't worry sweetie," Daryl said. "I'll cover for you with Jim." Jordyn couldn't let Daryl down. "Okay then, but I don't have a thing to wear."
"Well darn," Daryl said, "I guess we'll have to go shopping."
The group burst into laughter. Daryl suggested that they all go out for bagels. Everyone liked the idea and Daryl, Nicole, and Jordyn started getting ready.
Evan was left to patiently wait and read the paper. What seemed to be hours later,
Daryl entered the living room ready to go. He was wearing his brunette wig, knee-length denim skirt, and a long-sleeved white blouse, and low-heeled mules. He shaved close and expertly applied his makeup. Anyone he would never suspect he was anything but a lovely, middle-aged woman.
"Daryl, how do you do it?"
Evan asked. Daryl giggled. He knew exactly what Evan was trying to ask. Daryl said, "It's not that difficult, just a little well-placed padding and makeup. It actually came very naturally once I set my mind to it."
"When all this is done and your name is cleared, what will you do then?" Evan asked.
"Go back to my job of course," Daryl answered. "I mean, will you still dress this way?" Evan asked. Daryl sat back in a chair and thought. He hadn't considered what it would be like to stop dressing feminine. "I haven't thought about it," Daryl answered.
"A part of me wants to keep dressing this way. I can't explain it. If I suddenly stopped, I know I would miss being feminine." Evan nodded his head, "I thought you might." His attention turned to the girls. "What's taking them so long?" He asked.
"Jordyn is trying to find Nicole something to wear," Daryl answered.
"Since they have such different body types, none of Jordyn's clothes will fit her."
"I wanted to ask you about Jordyn," Evan said. "Are you alright with me dating her?" "Absolutely," Daryl said, "You two make a great couple."
"Then why is she so nervous every time I get close to her?" Evan asked. Daryl realized that Jordyn hadn't told Evan she was transgender. He didn't want to tip Evan off, preferring instead to let Jordyn tell him in her own way. "Jordyn's never really dated much," Daryl explained, "I'm sure once she gets to know you, she'll open up."
"Maybe I am rushing things," Evan said, "I guess I ... "
He suddenly stopped talking and stood up as Jordyn entered the room. She was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a purple top that showed plenty of cleavage, and open-toed black sandals with three-inch heels. Her hair was pulled back in a playful ponytail that bounced as she walked. Her bright smile beamed across the room.
"Jordyn, you look so fantastic," Evan said with glee. Daryl smiled to himself at Evan's youthful exuberance.
"Hey, what am I chopped liver?" Nicole asked. She was walking behind Jordyn. Nicole wore a khaki skirt and a light blue blouse that was borrowed from Jordyn's closet.
She had to wear the flat heels from her work outfit. Neither Jordyn's shoes nor Daryl's shoes would come close to fitting her feet.
She also pulled her hair into a ponytail and applied more makeup then she normally wore. Jordyn definitely influenced her. "Uh, you look nice too," Evan stammered. Nicole laughed aloud. "That's okay Evan," she said, "I know I can't compete with Jordyn."
The group made their way to Hoagie Town Deli. It was just a block from Jordyn's apartment. They all enjoyed their meal together. It didn't seem like anyone at the table had a care in the world. The truth, however, was that each of them was nearly overwhelmed by their own personal crisis.
After they finished eating, everyone recognized that they were very tired. Evan gave Nicole a ride home and Daryl and Jordyn walked back to their home.
As they entered the apartment, Daryl said, "Jordyn, you have to tell Evan you are transgender." Jordyn became very silent. She sat down, put her head in her hands, and began to weep.
"I can't," she sobbed, "What if he gets mad at me."
"It's not fair to you are him," Daryl said. "At any rate, I don't think you could ever say anything to him that would make him mad at you."
"He's so sweet and handsome, I don't want to lose him," Jordyn said as she sobbed.
Daryl sat down beside Jordyn and put her head on his shoulder. He held her close and gently rocked her. "There, there sweetie," Daryl said. He didn't know what to say to Jordyn. Evan may have left her when he found out she was transgender.
Evan may be okay with the idea. Either way, Daryl did know one thing for sure.
He never felt this close to anyone. As Daryl held Jordyn, he wondered how he could ever help her. But little did he know that soon he and Jordyn would each have to make the most difficult decision of their lives.
