Dark Age fortress WIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope you all had a nice Easter time and were able to celebrate however limited the options are these days!

I had some time on the long weekend and started to work doing a texturing sketch with this tower. I just wanted to see if what I had in mind will look good enough. All the details you see are optional as usual and I have yet to tackle the stone foundation bottom layer but so far it doesn't look that bad to me. What do you say?

This week I want to focus on the market set so I can get it released and out of my system. I have been adding these crates and boxes and vendor tables but I wasn't happy with the small open crates. They were too complicated to build.

Today I have redesigned them and they go together much faster and simpler now. Still I expect them to be too much work for some, so I will make very simple boxes as alternate option with the product sold just printed on the top side. That should be a nice and easy solution. If you like detail like me you can still have a go at the advanced version :) 

I also made a lower vendor table box because there was space left on the page. Tomorrow I will start to go over the large stalls to bring them to the same level like the small stall. Light is starting to show at the end this tunnel!

That wraps up my progress report! I hope you all are doing fine. I hope the weather will stabilize. We have the temperature oscillating between 0 and 20°C and I am ready for full on nice, warm Spring weather to come and stay!!!

Thanks! I haven't added any doors yet. My idea would be that the lowest level is the foundation and the doors would be on the next level to connect to the Wehrgangs :) but of course I can add doors on the ground level too, if you want a stand alone tower for example. And in the DELUXE edition you can choose the door positions. You might want them on two connecting walls for a corner situation. The slot windows are all the same position height wise (the actual slot is 15-30mm from ground and then the thin border). The top level simple slots the same. The ground/foundation level is a little lower than the higher levels but in sync with the battlements.

Looks great! An optional entrance at the two sites on the same level as the battlements (Wehrgang) would be awesome, to access the tower from there. Hard to see from the foto: are the floor levels in the tower adjusted to the battlement? I will probably build the levels stackable in pieces (with cardboard core and magnets) to make it playable inside. It looks like that the lower window is relatively high, but I might be wrong. Thanks and keep up the great work!

That's great to hear. I wasn't sure if all the detailing was a bit too much. It's optional and you can turn it all off but to spice up the historically correct "naked" versions I wanted to add some spice :)
