Market set WIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope you all had a great week. We had crazy weather, alternating between snow (nooooo, go away!) and fine spring days (yaaaay, come to stay!) but at least it kept me indoors working on my never ending to-do list :) I also am brimming with excitement about something new I started in the background. I don't want to talk about it yet (tease, tease) as I first want to find out if I can really pull it off in a manner that is worthy to be shown to the public. So very exciting times for me, these days :)

Now back to the stuff I CAN show you. I have been working more on the market models. While building the little crates I found them to be too complicated to build, so I made a redesign that comes together much better. In the front you see the new version.

I made the extending pegs wider so you don't go crazy when you want to cut out the advanced detail version. For the rest of us the black area filling the space between looks good enough and is much easier to build. For more easy and speed I will make a simple box version where I just print the vendor goods onto the top area!

Speaking of simple, not only did I add the large market stall but I also made some simple box versions of both stalls. I am never sure how much detail you want to build and while the open market stalls looks great they require more time to put together. So if that's not for you or you want some fast and easy "filler" stalls between the "important" ones you have this option too.

To achieve that I filled the "open" fronts with this criss-cross pattern behind which the vendor would be and a slot where the vendor could hand out the goods. It looks empty now but I will add some options for bottles, handing goods etc. so these will looks more alive.

Finally I added a cobblestone alternative to the ground tiles. Of course you can just use the stalls on their own but if you market is happening in a town (instead of on some dirt area of an village) you have this option too now.

So next step for me is to separate everything into their own PDFs (got it all mixed now) and then build some vending products additions to fill the crates and add details to the stalls.

I am focusing now on getting this out so there is nothing to report on the fortress front but once I get this out I will jump right back onto that set :)

That's a wrap-up for this week. Forecast says the next week will stay warm and sunny, so I am looking forward to get out this weekend for some hikes through the Vienna Woods and catch some sunshine! My back is acting up a bit lately so moving my rusty frame will be something good. All these lockdowns have kept me too still for my body's taste!

Stay safe, stay healthy and of course keep building :D

Until next time,

Chris
