Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have made it into this new month and I thought I share some WIP with you as I have been a bit quiet the last days just working but not showing much.
I have already mentioned that I want to do a water well for this months basic bit. The sketch shows different versions. I have tried to research Viking wells but there really isn't much there. I have found old Russian wells looking like the one on the left. With the Vikings actually going there and the medieval Russian architecture being famous for their woodwork I can see a possible influence. The crossed beams on the sides resemble the house ornaments. In the middle we have the classic medieval well version and on the left I made a square base version of that. A wooden base version would be very useful for the Norse buildings and a stonework base version can be use in a more general way throughout the medieval times! So I am going to do this one for June!
I have also shown a GIF animation demonstrating all the options I have added to the walls so far. I still want to add some more options for the lower/foundation part of the Dark Age Fortress modules.

Here is what I want to do for a stone foundation option. And just because I have the Saxon framework style done in the buildings I will also add that as an foundation option.
My plan is to release the Dark Age Fortress series as usual in a couple of sets. Starting with the walls which I hope to have out this month. It will contain a 3, 5, and 7" wide version and the bending modules. I also will release a simple palisade wall and gate as a quick starter thing.
The next set will be the towers (low and high) and the final set will be the bastions and the gates (narrow and wide). I have toyed with the idea of trying a crowd funding with this series but after some consultations realized that summer is not the best time to do such a thing. And a delay to autumn would just be too long to wait!
In an attempt to improve my presentation game I have started scoring soundtracks. Music is a long time hobby of mine and I enjoy this part of creativity very much although there is sooo much to learn. I have a first track to show if you are interested. You can listen to it here on Soundcloud. I was going for a Viking vibe but as much as I like this little tune it doesn't really sound too Viking to me in the end. Anyway it's a first creation and I thought I share it with you guys. I hope I can come up with something that will better support a promotion video of upcoming (or existing sets). Let me know if you have comments/ideas/feedback. Can you imagine a nice music track to make an impact on promo material? What kind of music would you like to hear in the background?
This wraps up my progress of late. With the help my my physiotherapist I am almost back to good health. I can go running again and feel great in general. Just in the morning my body needs some warming up to get the rust out of the machine :)
Until the next time, keep safe, keep sane and keep building!
Chris
