Ladies and gentlemen,
it's been a long week and now it's time again to show the progress I made with the Viking ship!
First of all I have updated all the texturing features that I found missing, like planking seams (see the bow section of the hull for example). This inspired me to maybe make a skin or an optional part for metal plating in the bow!

I also added a first figurehead. It's a simple version I have seen during research that mirrors the round shape of the tail in the stern.
The most obvious addition are textured shields. For this build I have added wooden shields and there will be a coloured version too.

Notice how all shields have a little random rotation as if they have been slotted in a hurry and also I have made a backside texture!
In my last testbuild I had the outer hull parts cut off vertically. Made for simple cutting and handling but left a somewhat ugly "scar" on the hull.

So for this revision I changed the parts of the exterior hull to follow potential planking seams. That way I can hide the seam during assembly better. Let me know how you like this result.

I think you really need to look closely to find the seams and I hope I have succeeded in hiding the single parts on the hull. It will take some extra care and time to assemble these but the final result makes it all worthwhile. I dare say this might become the best looking gaming papercraft of a longship?
That's enough clapping on my own back :) For now I need to start working on the sailing rig, mast, mastshoe and other "interior" details. So until next time, stay safe and keep building!
